What they want

Commentary

At the point that someone is stealing chickens and taking up residence in abandoned mines while wearing spooky robes, one might be forgiven for not assuming their choices are rational.

An argument for not buying a chicken could be made due to that creating a witness, but I'd argue the odds of that actually mattering are much lower than the odds of getting caught trying to steal a chicken.

The only scenario in which I see buying the chicken MAYBE coming back to bite them would be if the heroes came in, grabbed the decoy chicken, left without being stopped, and actually presented the decoy chicken to the mayor.

Even then, the party would probably just go back to the mine, and likely bring some of the town guard with them.

In short, yeah. Just buy the decoy chicken.

Anyway, Ellen is trying to mimic holding a chicken with one hand, and petting it with the other. If it does not appear Ellen is doing that, that is her fault. It has nothing to do with me, who expertly drew her failure.

Yep, that's petting. Or maybe cradling but either way. I got it.

Oh... I thought she thought she was on Dragon Ball Z, or something similar.

As someone who has GMed the adventurers taking the other side, so to speak, in this sort of story... yes, buying the decoy is by far the safer option. Dan didn't mention that the chicken farmer is secretly a platinum dragon. But the chicken farmer is totally a platinum dragon. Buy the decoy.

Petting cats while being evil is so last decade. Now it's all about the pet chicken, baby!

It’s not hard to steal a chicken. Dig small hole under fence, Take chicken, leave a bunch of feathers and fox tracks, hide your own tracks, DONE!

So, Ellen doesn't need to close her eyes while doing npc-speak anymore? Good for her, she's getting more confident! (that, or Dan totally forgot about the eyes... but he wouldn't, would he?)

Neighbor had chickens. She has a great picture of a raccoon examining the fence line.

Jere

I totally saw her petting and holding the chicken :) (need a thumbs up emoji here)

Ellen reminds me of the security fortune teller during the convention Susan and Sarah went to.
