As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'll be taking a two week (+1 Friday) break from story comics after Sister 3.

I will be catching up as much as I can on past images during that time, and doing prep work on keeping the catch up going beyond that as necessary.

In the interest of making this less of an issue in the future, however, I've modified how the Single and Double bonus images will work. I've also modified how the Comic milestone works, but it's a less dramatic change.

Instead of "first and second place are drawn", it's now this:

  • Single Character - Single character bonus image becomes either two images with separate character with a shared theme, or a before / after image of one character.
  • Two Characters - Two character bonus image becomes two related images with different characters, or before / after images featuring two characters.
  • Comic - Bonus story comic sized comic. Details voted on from a list of options.

(This means it doesn't HAVE to be transformation themed, and can pretty much be anything.)

Before and after in particular is easier, but I prefer having the option to mix it up, too, hence the two basic options.

EXAMPLES

This means some polls might not have multiple character options, but rather multiple scenario options. A very basic single character example:

"(Character) is mixing chemicals in a lab. The aftermath of this is..."

  • They shrink to half size
  • They shrink to one fourth scale
  • They shrink to one tenth scale

The before scenario is set up in the description, and the poll determines the after. Here's a non-before / after example:

"(Character A) and (Character B) have transformed! They've..."

  • Shrunk to one half size
  • Shrunk to one fourth scale
  • Shrunk to one tenth scale

So only the "after", but two separate images with two separate characters in a similar environment / situation.

This also addresses an issue in that some characters had little to no chance in polls against other characters. For example, I was thinking of having a poll inspired by recent "splashings" in EGS:NP, and, well...

There's no way Nanase was losing in that poll. Sorta defeats the purpose of a poll :P

So that's still happening, BUT Nanase is guaranteed. It's other details that will be voted on.

I intend to do similar for the comics, in which a character(s) is chosen, but specifics are voted on.

--

I believe these polls will be much closer in votes and far more difficult for me to predict the outcome of. It will also be easier to do preliminary work and be ready to start on them if I at least know which characters will be involved and such.

I hope this sounds good to everyone, and if this turns out to have been a terrible idea, we'll figure something else out. Thank you all for your support, and especially thank you if you actually took the time to read all this!

Sounds good to me. I'm in favour of anything that means I can't take one look at a poll and predict the winners. Kind of takes the fun out of voting in the first place.

coredumperror

Sounds fine to me. Especially that point you made about Nanase being the obvious winner for a "Wet look" poll.

You can probably guess how much of my time sorting out polls was spent on "how do I even these odds" and still being able to guess the probable outcome >_

egscomics

It could take an hour or two and still amount to me being able to guess who'd win o_o;

Given the potential for a two character "unresolved sexual tension coming to a head" and "disheveled post-smoochy bewilderment and bliss", I am totes in favor of this.

While this month will be a Nanase and Ellen scenario, I am already scheming such shipping fulfillment ;)

An example of the benefits of this is that I've already finished the upcoming poll options and, if so inclined, could start on preliminary work for them in spite of not yet knowing the outcomes.

Kyman201

I like these options, they're good options, and I look forward to them.

We do have a tendency to vote for the same things every time, so putting more control in your hands is probably for the best. On the other hand, I miss the days when we were able to suggest image ideas.

I'm bound to have more surveys / preliminary polls when I'm more caught up, though I hope people will listen when I say what I'm looking for in a suggestion. I've often said something like "just a character and form, no specifics beyond that" only to get a lengthy description of something super specific ^^;

I think this sounds good. I'm really a fan of the "you're getting art of this character, pick the situation" thing. Back when I ran the numbers for I think the first half of 2017, there were four of the strip's main characters who appeared in polls 2-3 times more often than most other characters and won around 60% of the polls they were in, making it really hard for other characters to ever get bonus art. So having the characters pre-chosen will help with that greater variety I'm usually looking for. :)
