More of a "current US Congress" thing. Gotta say though, if this did happen, I'd probably be more interested in watching C-Span than I ever have in my entire adult life. Waaay more interested. :D

Is this kind of birth control part of the new Republican health care bill or something? I haven't payed especially close attention to that, beyond the fact that it's apparently failed to pass twice.

This exact thing is hyperbole. At least, I assume no one has proposed exactly this. I wouldn't be terribly shocked if someone did, but to the best of my knowledge, it's strictly hyperbole.

You should look up the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case, where they basically did propose exactly this.
