Hi, just to say I loved your reaction and congratulations on finishing HF III (together with F/Z and UBW)! And I am glad that you decided to keep watching more Type-Moon stuff. I will first clarify your questions at the end. I don't specifically remember there is an exact condition where Angra Mainyu can be born. But basically, after he is defeated, he is retrieved by the grail and hence 'lived' there. He, or his will, polluted the Grail so now he is part of the Grail. So, he can't really get physically born, it's just whenever a wish is granted, it will be granted in the most horrible way possible (like monkey's paw). However, it has been a little while since I read up on him so I could be wrong. Secondly, yes you are absolutely right that Shirou revived thanks to Touko. After the Grail War, Sakura moved to Shirou's place. She sold most of Matou's property in exchange for a high-quality puppet from Touko. As you know from Garden of Sinners, Touko can make puppets that are even better than the original body, which automatically tailors to the user's soul. That is why the Shirou afterwards looks exactly like Shirou. The soul has everything to do with the Third Magic (the true purpose of the Grail), which as it states, materializes souls. Illya used the completed Third Magic to save Shirou's soul from wearing out. It was then captured by Rin and Sakura to put into the puppet. As to moving forward, you are pretty free to watch whatever you want. Most of them are not directly related to the FSN main story. I can highlight a few things as personal suggestions. 1. Saber's route (2006 DEEN). It is the first route of FSN and stands pretty on its own. The animation is very outdated and being the very first Fate anime, it is rather immature. But at the moment it remains the only way to learn about the love between Saber and Shirou besides the VN. The story and music are incredible so if you are interested in the dynamics between Saber and Shirou, it is worth trying. 2. The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II. This is the anime you mentioned, which focuses on Waver at the Clock Tower after the Fourth War. In short, it is like Sherlock Holmes but in Hogwarts. If you are interested in Waver I would definitely recommend it. 3. Today's Menu for the Emiya Family. It is a lovely cooking slice-of-life spin-off, where all the casts of FSN hang out and make nice meals. Each episode is only 10 minutes long and it's just so heart-warming to see them not murdering each other. Highly recommend it. 4. Fate/Grand Order. This is completely unrelated to the FSN timeline and the cast is different. There are a couple of animated movies and a TV series. It's basically about the protagonists travelling to various times in history to fix it. There are a lot more servants, including Gilgamesh when he was alive. If you are interested in this, please let me know and I will be more than happy to give a suggested watch list. 5. Fate/Strange Fake. Technically, it's not out yet. There is only a one-hour special episode as a super long trailer. But we see Gilgamesh vs Enkidu. 6. Carnival Phantasm. The ultimate canonical troll from Type-Moon. It's basically the FSN and Tsukihime cast hanging together and doing the most hilarious comedy ever as if Nasu went drunk and high before writing this (he didn't specifically write it, only approved it). It also contributed to half of the memes in the fandom till today. Even if you skip all the Tsukihime part and just watch FSN, it will still be worth it. 7. CANAAN. I feel obliged to bring this up. It is one of the few works Nasu has done but has nothing related to Nasuverse. It is much less popular than other Fate stuff but it's just as good. It features a girl called CANAAN using superpowers and guns to fight villains. There is also Prisma Illya, where Illya lived happily as a magical girl, FA and FELE and more. Please feel free to ask if you are interested in these.

None None

Don't worry. Fate fans LOVE dumping exposition, so I can clear up the Angra Mainyu thing, since the anime does an AWFUL job explaining it: So like they said, Angra was just a regular dude. His village decided that to be free of sin, they wanted there to be an ultimate evil they could blame for their sins. So they picked a random guy, decided he was the human incarnation of the evil god, and locked him in a cage to beat up any time they needed to absolve themselves of a sin. (The Einzbergs had to hack the system to summon this guy. They THOUGHT they were being clever and would summon the god he represents, but ended up just getting the dude. His only power is to share pain with his opponent, so he died after like one day) Angra's heroic deed was being the physical embodiment of humanity's wish for an ultimate evil, so his servant form is basically a living wish. Here's the issue: When the walking manifestation of "I wish for an ultimate evil" gets absorbed into a wish-granting device like the Holy Grail when he's defeated, it causes an unforeseen interaction. The Holy Grail basically mistook the wishes he represents as the wish it was supposed to grant and it started bugging out. It ended up not only corrupted, but began twisting any other wish it received into "I wish Angra Mainyu was born and kills everyone". If you remember that trippy sequence in Fate/Zero where Kiritsugu was seeing visions of himself doing the trolley problem and killing his family while a voice was going "this is the only road to saving everyone: By killing them all", that's what was happening. But thanks for watching this. I love seeing people's journey through this show. If you want to continue Fate, then lower your expectations. The rest of the franchise isn't bad, but basically EVERY spin-off is like "it's good, but..." with some sort of asterisk (there are only TWO other entries I consider just outright good with no qualifiers: one is Strange Fake and one is a manga that I'm sure will be animated some day). You seemed to like the servant-related stuff, so I'm sure people are going to point you toward the Fate/Grand Order adaptions next. It's VERY heavily focused on the servants and their lore, so it'll probably be up your alley. The "but..." in this case is that the mobile game it's adapting is in the top 10 list of "most text in a video game ever" (I'm not even exaggerating, I think only World of Warcraft is longer), so the anime only covers select portions of it. If you go this route, do make sure you ask someone for a watch order, because it's a jumbled mess. (there's a movie trilogy that's chronologically set before the TV anime, but I REALLY recommend the TV series first. The movies are a bit TOO streamlined to be a good introduction) Beyond Grand Order and Strange Fake, it really depends how deep down the well you want to go. It goes DEEP. Some good. Some bad. Some... are whatever the fuck was going on with the cooking anime.

Fate grand order Babylonia is the next priority of watching next if you decide to keep on with the fate series, also it is a key series to watch as well as Fate Apocrypha as it provides a lot of emphasis details for the upcoming Fate Strange Fake ‼️

Thanks a lot for the explanation and that actually clears up a hell of a lot! One example is the before I still didn't quite understand why the grail warped everyone's wishes but now it makes sense. Funny enough, I've actually already seen the special for Fate/Strange Fake when it first released! It's one of my most popular reactions and I even managed to guess a few of the servants before they were revealed which really surprised me 😅 Still not sure on where I'll go after this though. Going to collect more thoughts after posting it to YouTube and I'll just continue the abridged version in the meantime lol

Thanks for the heads up! I did watch the special for Fate Strange Fake but I'd love to check these out while we're waiting for the series to drop!
