So... 2023 wasn't the best, was it?

Between the major hiatus I had to take, the changes in the online NSFW landscape and the horrifying events happening in the world, I think we all have a lot of bitter feelings when thinking about the last twelve months. But it doesn't matter: we have to focus on the future! SO here's some updates and adjustments for the year to come!

2024 is the Year of Animation!

I've found an intense, burning love for animation in the past year, and I want to follow my heart!

I want to use this year to practice and become better at it, and I'd like to bring you all along on this journey, so the art focus of this year will be animation! Of course, minicomics, commissions and other Patreon rewards will continue as well. I'll just split my time 50/50 between animation and more traditional Lazysnout activities :P

$4+ patrons will get frequent updates with animation practice + sketch animations, and everyone on Patreon will get the full animation releases one month in advance!

Free Patreon Trials!

To allow everyone to take a peek at this animation journey, I've enabled free one week trials for the $4 tier for a limited time! Tell your friends, and invite them to take a look at my stuff for free!

Commissions to be simplified and streamlined!

Let's be honest, we all know that my commission process is long and complicated. You're frustrated for the wait, I'm frustrated for making you wait, it's a whole thing! I'm extremely grateful that you've all been so respectful and patient about it, but I think it's time to improve things a bit. So I'm in the process of reviewing and reorganizing my system while I finish the current commission batch.

This is a big change that deserves its own post, which I will make closer to when I'll be able to open commissions again (still not sure of when that would be, unfortunately. Sometimes in the first half of the year, hopefully!). But here's a quick preview so you know what to expect!

  • Less commission types, more efficiency: I plan to really cut down on the types of commissions I offer, and to focus on the ones that allow me to work through my queue in a reasonable amount of time. Then, every batch or two, we can have a special event where we offer a "classic" commission type for a limited time!
  • Commissions to be Patreon exclusive: I think it's more fair that I focus on those of you who are paying for a commission discount, so I'll just open the form here on Patreon to keep things quicker and simpler. Like always, Patreon discounts remain whether you remain subscribed or not once you send in your commission request!
  • Commissions to be streamed:  I really want to get into the habit of streaming commissions, both for transparency and to give everyone a better idea of my work speed and my current status in the queue.

The Mental Health Corner!

As a last thing, a couple changes to make sure I can keep making art throughout the year without running into the risk of burning out!

  • Monthly wing-it rewards to be decreased from four to three: while I know I CAN do four rewards per month, I should give myself more wiggle room in case I need to take a couple days off for whatever reason. This change will take effect from February onward because I forgot to announce it before the end of last month. Whoops :P
  • Weekly breaks every three months or so: I'm going to incorporate routine one-week breaks from "professional" art every three months so I can focus on personal projects (or just to rest)! I wholeheartedly believe this is the healthier option as opposed to crashing and burning / having to take days off anyways because of sickness or stress.

That's it!

If you made it this far after this wall of text, thank you for reading!! Feel free to leave any feedback or other ideas in the comments, and look forward to this year! I'm determined to make it a really good one ;)

Thanks for the update, this is all amazing info! KittyDee has a very stream lined commission process, she opens her form for 30 minutes or less once a week. And a slot is not guaranteed, she then chooses the forms she knows she can draw and is comfortable drawing in a week and usually gets them done in a week. Sometimes minor changes push it into a second week like with my character sheet, but after too many changes a fee is added (which also helps people think about what is really important). Just thought I'd mention that as an example of one artists' method. She posts her progress on Trello, so seeing the progress on stream will be kinda cool, I do worry that your stream chat will be burdened with people asking about the progress of their commission unless there is another way for them to check. But if you are happy with bringing that into that space then I'll support anyway I can. If you didn't want that In that space I'd happily inform them to go check X other resource. The mental health update is an amazing idea, having a regular and scheduled holiday time will give you something to look forward too and I think will help with feeling less overwhelmed because no matter what, you know that in a couple months you have that week off! Hehe, awesome update Snout. Can't wait to follow your journey, keep being the amazing person you are ☺️❤️
