Hi, it’s Alex 🙋‍♂️

It’s already time for the very last Patreon post of the year!! 🎉 We’re gonna take 2 weeks off and come back with our weekly post schedule on Friday, January 12. See you then!

For now, let’s dive into today’s subject: a recap of the year 2023 for Paralives and our goals for the year to come. This post is for Patrons only so please don’t share it, thank you! 🔐

🪑 Progress on the Build Mode Objects in 2023

At the start of 2023, we only had a handful of build mode objects in the game.

Right now, we have around 900 objects. So much progress on that front this year!

👖 The Paramaker Items Created in 2023

The hairstyles created in 2023.

The tops created in 2023.

The bottoms created in 2023.

The full body clothing items created in 2023.

That’s a lot of new hairstyles and clothing items! We’re getting closer and closer to the point where most players could find a lot of stuff they like to dress their Parafolks with. This year, we’ve also added tattoos, body hair, makeup, shoes, skin textures and more!

💿 The Paralives Soundtrack

At the start of the year, we had 4 pieces made for the game’s soundtrack. We now have 11 and we’re getting close to completion! The music will create a creative and cozy mood for the game which I can’t wait for you to experience. Meanwhile, here are some of the tracks that we’ve shared this year: Farewell Froggy, 4am, You Call That Dancing?, Life is Ok and Time Machine.

🌱 New Live Mode Features in 2023

2023 was a big year for Paralives’ live mode! Before that, we had focused a lot on the build mode and Paramaker but this year, we gave a big big push to the simulation aspect of the game:

🎯 2024 Goals

We are almost done with the core gameplay features we wanted to have in the game which is incredibly exciting! Now, we need to improve them to make sure they are fun and that players will have enough content to play with. Our goals for 2024, more precisely:

  • 🐜 Fix many bugs in the Paramaker, build mode and live mode
  • 🙋‍♀️ To help with the above goal, we have hired a quality assurance tester who will start in January
  • 💃 Add a lot more live mode content such as social interactions, jobs and skills
  • 🔨 Make sure the build mode feels really nice to play with
  • 👕 Add important missing build mode objects as well as Paramaker clothing items, hairstyles and accessories
  • 📊 Balance the game’s economy, live mode gameplay systems and progression curve
  • 🏃‍♀️ Show more and more of the live mode
  • 💌 Keep writing one Patreon post and one social media post each week

📝 As a reminder, you can always follow our monthly progress on the development page of our website and look at our detailed roadmap to know which game features are completed and which are still missing.

That’s it for today’s post. We can’t wait to see you in 2024 because it’s going to be really exciting to share our progress as we get closer and closer to Paralives’ early access release.

Warmest wishes to you and your dear ones!

Cheers,

Alex

One could be forgiven for thinking you guys are a team of AAA proportions with the amount of work you put in. EA is supposed to have hundreds working on their game. They make far less progress on their 'packs' in a year than you guys make on this game, most of their 'features' are cut-and-paste-and-adapt, there are very few 'features' anyway, mostly window-dressing, and they don't even bother to fix their bugs to anywhere near an acceptable playable standard. They appear to have done roughly a third of the work with their 'packs' than you guys have done on Paralives. Although beating them is not exactly a massive accomplishment - the bar they set is so ridiculously low - you guys are absolutely amazing! A++++ from a real life teacher! Have a great break! I can't wait to see how the game develops next year! :-)

2024 is going to be fire! 🔥🤣

this is insane! most of the general public has no idea how hard you guys are working but this was baffling to see even as a patron! so much hard work and time gone into this game and its looing super worth it! keep it up but dont forget to have breaks !

the one thing i would say is that some say the roadmap isn't updated as to what things are complete and which aren't, and they find it difficult to see whats actually being worked on. is there any way this can be made clearer?

Coming up on 4.5 years, closing in on Duke Nukem Forever status. I'm ready for beta testing.

Hi there. I want to be an investor for your game. I am a product designer from British Higher School of Art and Design. I want to give you about 100 000 rubles before the 15th of January. And then I need a video zoom talk with the leader of the project and the team. I want to influence the game more than anyone else and start sell it on STEAM platform in 2024. I see a real deepness in your project. Want to upgrade it within AI I have a team from BHSAD (partner university of hertfordshire) and ready to work on this game regularly and invest millions in the winter 2024.

Whew, it's been a busy year and the hard work is reflected in that massive lot! Thanks for sharing this wonderful journey with us 🍓 Also that standalone cow gets me every time 😂 Happy New Year, everyone!! 💕

Not sure if you're still checking comments on this post, but I have a request/question about hair styles! Is having the same hairstyle with different variations to choose from something you guys can do? Example: straight bob -> variations: middle part, side part, straight bangs, curtain bangs, side bangs Would this be possible to implement in the game? I feel like it could be done similarly to how layering clothes is done.

2023 was clearly a big year for Paralives, and I'm SO so proud of all the hard work the team has put in. Thanks so much everyone!
