Hi!

Alex here to share an inside look at what we have been doing this week and also, to share an exclusive look at interesting floor plans that I created in the game.

🎮 Internal Playtest: The Team Plays Paralives

To start off the year, we organized an internal playtest. Each and every team member sat down to play the game for a few hours. The goal was to discuss how we feel about the current state of the game. This allowed us to write down a lot of possible small improvements and tweaks to different existing game features, many of which we have already done this week. The playtest was also a great opportunity for our newest team members, Richard and Alejandro, to discover the game for the first time!

Usually, when we develop new features and content, we focus on testing only the newly added elements. This internal playtest was an occasion to take a step back and notice how we feel as players when we play Paralives. Overall, it was great for us to realize all the work we have put into the game so far! Seeing everything coming together is really satisfying and it made me a bit emotional! We still have a lot of work to do but we can’t wait for you to experience Paralives when it’s ready.

We gathered 12 pages of feedback from playing the game last week! A lot of them were small tweaks though. The suggested changes that are highlighted in yellow have already been done since then.

🏡 Floor Plan Showcase

A while back, I shared with you three floor plans that I had built in Paralives. I thought it would be great to showcase new ones that I have just created. Let’s start!

🇦 The Family House with the Interior Courtyard

To start off, our first floor plan is our most spacious one. It has two bathrooms and three bedrooms, wardrobe included. On the left where Sebastian is standing, we have a huge living room area and on the bottom right, there’s a well-lit open kitchen and dining room combo. However, the interior courtyard is the most notable feature of this house, which I’m sure every member of the family will enjoy!

🇧 The High Ceiling Apartment

Next, we have a somewhat simple apartment but the high ceilings and the tall windows will seduce a lot of Parafolks. The open floor plan is great for parties and has one bedroom and one bathroom.

🇨 The Experimental Curved House

Last but not least, the perfect floor plan to showcase Paralives’ curved wall tool. A great place for creative Parafolks who are looking for something less conventional!

📊 Poll: Your Favorite Floor Plan

Please tell us which of these 3 floor plans is your favorite in the poll below. You can also tell us why in the comment section!

Cheers,

Alex

i really want a longer live mode video soon. hoping for early access done by at least end of this year

PinkLyon

My favorite is definitely the apartment. I really enjoy more relatable homes in life sim games, as too many seem to focus on wish fulfillment at the expense of realism. The limited space and cozy atmosphere really get my creative juices flowing thinking of how I could utilize every inch. Plus, it's more rewarding to start out in meager surroundings so you can evolve as you earn resources.

TnT_Terry

I truly love all 3, but the curved walls won my heart and vote. I am so thrilled to have been along for the ride even before you added your team Alex, but you have definitely added all the right people to make this game what it is thus far. I can't wait until this goes into early access, because I will be full steam ahead to helping you all work out the bugs and needed tweaks as best I can. I am so excited for this game and have been since you began creating it. Thank you all for all you are doing to make this the best simulation ever! hugs to you all <3

olivia mason

I love the curved walls! It would be awesome to have a curved courtyard house :)

Nathalie Carluccio

I loved number 3 because of the curves but my heart goes to number 2. I just love the industrial loft feeling on this one.

Levi Cintora

I really think the high ceiling apartment could definitely be used as a starter home for sure! :)

QueenWarrior4

3! I love all of them to be fair, but the massive amount of options the curves give, it just makes a house a home in my opinion! It's hard to get things true to real life in a game and this, this allows us to be as realistic or as creative and unrealistic as we want to be! The options are endless! :)

Fox

The interior courtyard is such a fun idea! And I love how big the house is!

Anatasia

To me, a house with an internal courtyard is too normal while a high-ceiling apartment doesn't show much since it's on the ground floor. Hence, the curve wall customization grabs more interest. I really want to see how paras' routing is for this plan and how objects are placed on those curve surfaces.

Desirée Eriksson

I love all of them! The airiness/light of the 1st one, the industrial second one and of course the c u r v e s of the 3rd. I voted for 3 even though I'd make the floorplan slightly different.

Denver

Will there be actual apartment buildings?

Sashi

I honestly like all of them so much. It was hard to pick.

IdrilPuck

The first house reminds me a little bit of encanto :),

IdrilPuck

tho my fave is the curvy one, I’d love to see how the curvy walks get decorated

Geneka McCall

love the interior courtyard

Sarah

I love the interior courtyard for the garden possibilities plus it allows more light into the house from more sides. The apartment one was very classic and is very versatile for simple game-play while the curved floor-plan looks like a fun challenge for interior designers and people who love more character in their homes I want to play around with some curved floor-plans in the final release. My only concern is how furniture would fit against the curved walls

Emily

Honestly I like them all for their differences.

Samari Prime

I like A but C those curved walls look sweet 🎂

Stewby

That courtyard is gorgeous. I want one... but evil poll asking us to pick a favourite. They are all so nice but in different ways. <3

Aleah

I can’t choose between A or C 🥲

Megan Cartier

I picked C because I'd really like to see how the build can work around all the curved elements.

Mariana Castiglione

All floor plans are really interesting! I chose A but just because I wish I could live somewhere like that

Lane Brettschneider

I normally would NEVER try to build with curved walls, but this floor plan makes it so enticing! I can already imagine the 60s-inspired, yet contemporary ways I could decorate it to make it feel really fun and stylish! These floor plans are so cool, creative, and useful!! So fun to think about the Paras who would live in each one! ❤️

Lane Brettschneider

Also want to add that I love B because it's super realistic! Especially with the way the kitchen is designed. I really appreciate that.

Elen Pink

The apartment doesn't really look like an apartment.

Zahlea

I have to say I'm blown away by the third floor plan, the Curved House. Sure, the curves are a bit unusual and make for a bit of an interesting time trying to furnish it 😆 but what really impresses me is how there are so many different curves and they all look really natural and amazing!! 😍 You did an amazing job!! ❤️ PS. I voted for B though, because it has furnishing 😛

Sanny

I wanted an all the above choice because I loved them all for their individual uniqueness. But since I could only choose one I picked A because it was more my style.

Kiya Averhart

A looks pleasing, but I adore "C". It's weird and unique!!

Judi Dielman

I love the experimental house because you can!

Yisus

I gotta go with the third one simply because after playing the Sims and seeing their lame attempt at "curved" walls, I am appreciative of how you guys make it look so natural and with so much variety. Would really love to see one of those sections furnished

Beth Hill

Hard to decide between A and C! But went with C

Pedro Lima

The internal courtyard made me so excited! I loved that floorplan. Though I did notice that one of the walls is actually a double. At first I thought you had changed the wall thickness (that possibility made me double excited), but looking closer it's noticeable that two walls were used there. Is it fair to assume that was a workaround necessary for the internal courtyard to work properly? Is it because at this stage floors exist in and only in closed rooms? What are your plans for floors on that matter for the final product?

Vash T

Awesome stuff, thank you! Was hard to choose a favorite for sure, you build some cool homes!

Ivien

I can't wait to play this game, I mainly plan to play it to build and decorate perfect houses. So far, you showed so many great way to build that I can't wait for, no other game seems to compete. Sims is close, but yours seems so much better. I really can't wait!

Bettina Dransfelt

I went with A, but the curved walls look amazing. All of the options looks great.

Amanda Hotchkiss

Will we be able to build apartments with multiple tenants?

Pedro Lima

Btw, I'm not against workarounds, I'm an engineer lol. If that was what it took to create this floor plan at this stage of the game, I'm here for it. My question is only regarding your plans for the future on this matter, if any.

Romina Latorre

I honestly love every choice since they are unique and beautiful designs. The first plan with the interior courtyard made me fell in love instantly as I could feel home somehow in it so it was my first choice, on the other hand the curved walls look great on C and I can't wait to try them in game. And B keeps me thinking in how cool will be to live in an spacious industrial loft. Keep up the good work, you are doing great!!

Ryn

I like the simplicity of B. Also wondering how apartments will work! I would love for some Paras to rent rather than own

Revannia

I chose C because I like the uniqueness that curved walls give you, but all of the floor plans look great. I think putting an interior courtyard into a curved house will be fun as well. The game is looking great and I can't wait until it's finally ready for release :)

ladyteruki

Happy new year, Paradevs ! (I wasn't around last week, sorry) This is gonna be such an exciting year for Paralives, especially with new people on board. And it's so exciting to read sentences like "play Paralives". Sometimes with the updates focusing on distinct aspects, we lose track of how things end up meshing together into one game ; I hadn't realized it was possible at this point to follow a path between the different articulations of the game yet. I don't know why, but I only realized now how many pieces of the puzzle are together already ! And it's only going to become a bigger picture, of course. I like the courtyard, but the experimental house has a certain flow to it that I can't resist. It's not just the curves, it's that it feels more like an open floorplan (which upon further inspection, isn't even accurate considering that aside from one wall, the courtyard home also has a large floorplan in the common areas). I don't know, it feels like a Para would actually have a reason to go all around the house, because there are "pockets" of activities embedded in the design, maybe. And the middle rooms would be cool for closet space, or even a secret space with a door hidden behind a tapestry ! Can't wait to see what new assets the team will add, that will give us options to furnish these places. Also can't help but notice that the word "apartment" is appearing here, which we hadn't heard about in a while, as far as I remember... Innnnnteresting !!!

I kinda forGoT

Lol why have a never thought to put a garden in the middle of a house? Looks awesome 👌

Unapologetic Lesbian

I would be really excited to experiment with possibilities with the curved walls

Sherri Robinson

Option C, because those curved walls are everything!

Tee W

These posts make me SO excited. I love the brightness of A and the diversity of C. I can't wait to play this game.

Christine Harvey

I love the look of the high cieling apartment, with the big windows. I think it would be lovely to build big windowed houses for paras to live!

Gab (Paralives)

Finally someone giving B some love🤩 I totally agree, I would love to live in the city and be in a bright high-ceiling apartment like that!

Zuzanna2002 Czarnota

I still get so excited when i see the curved walls! It actually was the first thing that really impressed me when i saw paralives trailer for the first time

Brynja Sandhals

That apartment is gorgeous! I’d love to play in that as a bachelor 😎

Jordyou23

I love them all it's hard to pick one.

lilblox

The Courtyard is amazing! But I think the apartment layout felt the most realistic. I wonder what each of these looks like from the outside as well

Gab (Paralives)

That such a good point! We definitely should have included an all-of-the-above choice to give all of the floor plans some love😊

Maxayn Henderson

All of the above ...I went with C because of the curved walls and the space to grow. However, I love A for the garden. I can see the children playing while the Para keeps an eye on them. B feels like the first apartment my Para got when the graduated from college. Their first time living alone or they shared apartment with their college boyfriend/girlfriend. Overall, I can see my paras living interesting lives.

Gab (Paralives)

Thank you! We can't wait to show you all the progress we are making on furniture😊

Runner Bunny

I'm a little worried about how the rooft would work with such a crazy floor plans.

Katie Bellissimo

I love them all! Question though: is that closets I see in the courtyard house!? Are there going to be like closet related decor/clutter items? I'd love to be able to add details like that in my houses even if they're not fucntional!

Riccardo

I can't wait to make good us of this incredible curved walls tool and make perfectly cubic house.

Lucie Baha

Are there any pre-created parts in the build mode?

Gab (Paralives)

Thank you so much, we are just as excited about the build mode possibilities😊

Gab (Paralives)

That would be such a cool option! We are considering creating that feature but can't confirm yet.

Sehrys

i went with A, because i'm a sucker for courtyards and C looks beautiful but would be a pain to roof 😅😬 i really like B too, because it looks like a place i actually might live in at some point. the high ceilings and simplicity of the floor plan are really appealing

I kinda forGoT

I wonder if we can manage like 2 or more apartments and switch between? I want to make apartments now with a shared garden in between them 😀 ohhhh this game is so exciting!

NikoDelux

The little closets in the bedrooms are so cute and add so much realism! Simply not being stuck to a grid makes such a difference too honestly.

Gab (Paralives)

Hi, thank you for your question Pedro! In that floorplan, we did use two walls as a workaround because it worked well like that, but we have other options to do this - including one that doesn’t require two walls. To answer your question about floors: yes, a floor does need to be in a closed room. However, we have full control over visibility of the walls and floors so something like the interior courtyard can easily be created!

Serasmiu

The courtyard sold it for me but I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the teams hard work and the successes that result. This project is inspirational and when you execute it I'm confident that you'll have an incredible foundation to elevate in the future. But most importantly is you'll make history and most definitely help with the impending gaming storm.

Slippers

They all look great, I would love to play any of them! I only went with the family courtyard since it has such a spacious feeling, with all the light streaming in through those big white windows.

Gab (Paralives)

That's also my favorite! Building big windowed houses in Paralives is so fun with the windows' resizable tool 😊

playeronthebeat

I love the first design! It seems to be a really cool and cozy one and seeing what you've been posting on the roof situation, I'm looking forward to it!

Gab (Paralives)

Thank you so much for the kind words, and happy new year to you too🥰 We are just as excited to see it all come together, bit by bit!

Tee W

I'm sure I will. I haven't been this excited about a game in a long time

Gab (Paralives)

So many possibilities! We're glad to hear you're enjoying the look of the floorplans😊

Gab (Paralives)

Big windows letting in so much light are the best! Thank you for your nice words😊

Gab (Paralives)

Yes, those are closets! We don't have clutter closet items yet, but we'll start working on more decor items soon👀

Gab (Paralives)

Thank you! Being able to build apartments around a shared area would be so much fun! That's something we are considering for the game but can't confirm quite yet :)

Madison Deitch

This is so amazing 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😍

Amanda Hotchkiss

I think it would be very cool! Even as a Apartments add on pack later on or something

Ashlee Brenner

I love the family one! The curved one seems to tight

mar

Voted for B, absolutely love that kitchen 🥰

Tommy

I like the first one but then I like all of them. I’d like to ask how much customisation have you got for roofs themselves? s it all automatic (they automatically fit to the walls) or can it be fully manual? For example, how do curved or cone shaped roofs work for the curved walls? Thank you

Amanda Hannu Näckros

I love all of the floorplans, 1 and 2 are probably the floorplans I'll be building most of the time. However I picked floorplan number 3 since I love strange layouts and spaces to work with, also in real life. That floorplan is the one with the most character. I can't wait to play this game, I have a feeling it will be my new favorite! And once I'm more used to the buildmode I know I will love to challenge myself trying to build more quirky builds with lots of character.

Sarah

It's so hard to pick a favourite because they're all awesome in their own ways. I think for me it's the curved house just because it looks so different

Megan Santucci

I like the simplicity and realism of B! However, I would love to live in a courtyard house like A if it didn't have QUITE so many angles! 😂

Margaret Ann

These look so cool, and I'd love to play with all of them! But if I were to live in one, I'd grab a few friends and choose the courtyard. Put a glass roof over top so it can be a sun room for all seasons and I'd be perfectly happy :D

GazerGuy

I like the curve since its something different

Reyn Ruch

I voted for the curved just because curved walls, though I love them all.

Camy

Love B since I find that it's easier to play in smaller lots, less moving around. The courtyard is my second fave since I love that we can have that and it's pretty spacious.

samber

I'm so excited for the complex curved walls! I can't wait to make some weird, surreal homes!

Julia Moreau

I love the A version ! Couldn’t chose another one because of the interior courtyard, it’s very similar to the plan I made for my Dream House for the day I will be able to build my own ☺️ It’s like, your secret garden, nobody can bring you harm, your little place of peace and quiet 🥰 But I also love the C plan, because it shows the possibilities of the game ❤️👍🏻

S&M Gonzalez

I chose option C because I love making irregular and odd shaped buildings. Though, I really both enjoyed house-plans A and C. I like A for the courtyard and being able to see what's possible incorporating nature within the interior designs of the house-plan (like having an indoor pond or being able to place actual trees inside homesfor example). I also like C for the unique wall tool of curved walls and seeing what is possible for them. I love making irregular shaped buildings so this is my most favorite. The possibilities of how homes would and can be decorated with these type walls, seeing how the windows are placed and settle on the wall, different window styles, etc. Also a question for curved walls is it possible to make a bubble house? Curved walls and a circular/dome shaped roof and having it be multi-story?

Suni85

A and C are both equally my favorites. A because I feel like it'd be perfect for small-family gameplay, and C because it's so creative, and showcases the potential the game has for creativity and making builds that are unique and have character. I also voted C because it'll be nice to play with curved walls that don't glitch out, lol...

Timothy

Looks great! I’m hoping to see tools for wall height soon, as well as stair placement and roofs! It would be cool if it was possible to change wall thickness but not sure if this feature is being considered. One other thing - I always loved how detailed and thought out the building levels were in The Sims, hoping Paralives will be just as detailed! (this video goes in a lot of detail - https://youtu.be/WI4w2wQ4AhI)

Kitten Walters

Previous games I have played of this genre making any of these would be difficult. I really like the Courtyard. It gives me more of a European vibe. But I'm always down for some high ceilings and maybe an industrial Edge to the apartment?

Mysteri

I love the courtyard house but the other 2 are great too. I nearly always build a similar floorplan of the second one in the Sims but have never thought of a courtyard. Thank you Alex and the team for your continued combined brilliance. I am so ready for the Paralives game.

Francis McDonald

I went for the curves although the court yard layout was calling me hard

James Bender

I love all three, but a garden and a small tree in the middle be cool.

Laydayway

I'm really excited to see the roofing tools cause right now I have no idea how I'd would roof these in the sims. Keep up the good work!

Becky

Another amazing post! Im so so happy you guys got to test the game and I’m looking forward for the day that we finally can. Love the progress you all make every week! 👏🏻✨💕

BooDotBoo .

I like something about all of them, but picked option A. It’s similar to how I normally build houses, and I like the courtyard. It’s great to see all the progress made!

Masaway

Kiiiwiii

I love this! There is a slow burn excitement about being able to play this game, without actually knowing when that will be. My 100% favorite part is the building aspect and. Wow. This makes me even more exciting! Thanks for playing your own game to know what might be missing and how it will be for us

rénette

I like something about all of them, but picked option A

rénette

J'adore.

Katja

I took B because I find it the most realistic. I myself live in a tiny apartment.

Ben Jervis

Is there any way I as a programmer, designer and and 3D modeller, can contribute to this project?

ZLoves

I picked the Curved House C because while I LOVE a courtyard, having curved walls is a cool technique! Also it's great that you automatically have an apartment option and curved wall option in the base game. Making a courtyard is merely a building option while having curved walls and apartments are styling options, and that's pretty cool all the way around! Thanks guys 🥰

Gab (Paralives)

C'est vrai que ce n'est pas un choix facile à faire! Une maison avec une cour intérieure et des murs incurvés pourrait effectivement être la solution parfaite au dilemme d'un choix entre A et C 😊

Gab (Paralives)

Hi Ben! Thank you so much for offering your help, we really appreciate it! Unfortunately, we are not looking to add any new members to the team for the time being. We will make sure to update our website with a job posting in case that changes. Thank you again for your support!

Gab (Paralives)

We're really glad to read that you're pleased with the house options! Thank you for your support😊

Gab (Paralives)

Hi, thank you for your question! It'll be possible to make a circular-shaped wall structure but we haven't finished working on the roof system yet! Moreover, while the walls can curve horizontally, they can't be vertically slanted, which might limit how round your bubble house could be.

Gab (Paralives)

Thank you for your questions, Tommy! Our roof system is still a work in progress and we need to spend more time on it before we can answer those questions. We'll make sure to share on Patreon our latest roof features once they are ready :)

Gab (Paralives)

Hi Timothy, thank you for the kind words! We are still working on the roof system but we do have the tools for wall height and wall thickness available in the game already :)

Afua

I love all floorplans and can't really choose. xD One thing I noticed, is that all of your floorplans have rather small bedrooms. I like the option of a built-in wardrobe and I'm excited to see how these will be used in the game. Built-in wardrobes are something uncommon here in Germany, so it was never really part of my gameplay - but I'd love to change that. What I would love even more, if you could find different type of floorplans from all over the world. I find it so interesting how space is shaped and used differently worldwide. Perhaps these floorplans are more common in the northern Americas? Great work! Also amazing work with the curved walls!

Afua

However, one thing that I'm missing here. All floorplans are leveled. I'm in LOVE with the first floorplan ever of Maggie's apartment with the inhouse terrace/balcony. Also the floorplan of the cottage with a semi level looked really cool. Once I saw an article in a online architecture magazine. The heart of the house was a staircase going up always half a level, barely having doors and every room being on another level. That would be fun to see/build as well. Amazing work so far. Love following your process. Can't wait until we get to play the game. You're doing great! :-)

Felicia Bailey

Love the idea of the Curved walls option. For builders this is really something that will be useful and FUN to build with, off the bat. But it is also something that people who aren't builders will enjoy too because it seems easy to incorporate in a build. Genius ideas! Also REALLY love the apt, it looks so realistic.

Sharmaine Arguilles

I love the high ceiling the most but it would be better if the kitchen wall have hole looking thru the dining area (I’m not sure what it is called). I hope that feature is added eventually (if not yet! XD)

The Lumens

Like the curved walls a lot, but an interior courtyard has been on the IRL wishlist too long to not get the vote here

Abigail Buchmiller

I really like the apartment with the high ceilings, it would be the one I would have a para start in. Then build a house later on. I do love the courtyard of the first house!
