I'm thinking due to the sensitive nature of this comic and dealing with many many MANY types of social taboos, I may have to rename the comic.

Betsie and Ronnie?

or...

Josie and Jackie? (Blueberry Girls Throwback)

or...

I'll try and make sure I keep one with the original names but that's going to be tough to keep up with.  I'm almost tempted just to keep the names.  I don't know the legalities of fan-art/fan-fic.

Betsie and Ronnie are close enough. Josie and Jackie are a bit too off-target to feel associative with the source material, which hurts the kink. Ultimately, I wouldn't worry about the IP issues. Legally you're covered. Your work is "derivative" and "transformative", which is allowed under US Code. It's a parody, which is protected under tort law. Your commercial benefit is very limited, and you're not making commercial sales. And finally, the gold standard of copyright infringement is the "Confusion Rule" - is a reasonable person prone to confuse your work for Archie Comics. It's pretty safe to say that no-one's that much of a retard. Personally, I'd just keep "Betty and Veronica". As someone who's been doing fanfic for years, I've never run into issues.

That’s given me a lot to think about. I would MUCH rather call them BnV as well. Archie comics has always been super wholesome like Disney Princesses but it looks like they’ve laced up a lot with the Riverdale series and more edgy comic books. Maybe they’re not as protective as they used to be.
