Its so stinking hot here!  This city known for its mild temperatures is in the midst of a crazy heat wave and I turn on the air con in my new place and... sputter sputter... plunk!

Grrr.  The old owners came by to see what was up but they're baffled.  It looks like there's not a repair guy to be found.  I checked youtube and they said to replace the capacitor which I did to no avail.

Anyone know anything about air con units?  I pressed the little button in the unit and the compressor turns on but the fan does not run.  I tried turning the fan with a stick and it seems to turn... with a little resistance.

Ain't this a bummer.  I've got my big soaker tub filled with water and taking a dip when I can which help.  Unfortunately, its 31C today and supposed to be 38C tomorrow and then 41C on Sunday/Monday!!

I may have to spend those days at the movie theatres.

Yeah.. I'm currently in Kamloops for work, temperatures going above 40⁰ Celsius this week. Not looking forward to it. I am looking forward to your work, looks great!

oh no! the interior is going to be savage! we’ll try and soak up as much of the heat as we can but unfortunately all these air conditioners are just adding to the heat dome. ;)

Good luck on finding a HVAC specialist. I pay a guy to visit twice a year, and do a complete check and change filters. That paid off when I had some idiots steal my outside compressor coils, apparently for the aluminum scrap value ... less than $40 at most! He replaced it was a unit he had on hand, and responds quickly when I have problems. I bought a portable a/c unit for our Minnesota summer cabin which usually has only a handful of hot periods when we use it ... but my insistent sis-in-law kept whining about getting central a/c. This keeps a bedroom and adjacent bathroom quite cool, and keeps her from being too demanding. A new one in the US is about $500 ... but you probably will have to wait until your Saharan summer is over.

I’ve never had an before so that;s good to know! I never wanted to get reliant on AC but 45C is HOT! 105F? I’m going to have to pay double rates to have someone in today. :(
