When working on Stuffy's movement, we often lean on animations to make things appear as smooth as they feel. Animation bridges the gap between player input and character expression. We want the game to feel responsive and for your actions to be reflected on screen quickly for precise movement, but we also want Stuffy to interact with the environment in a way that feels realistic and weighted.

These are fine lines to balance! Because of that, we've done several tests for how Stuffy might interact with things around them... including needle pulling, walking/running, climbing up, hopping down, and jumping around.

In this example, Stuffy's animations blend between multiple states and react to different actions. This footage was taken a bit earlier in development, so it doesn't reflect the final product. Nevertheless, it's still an interesting part of development that we've want to show here. :)
