Watched it - loved it. Liked your review. A great treat for a Sunday evening. I don't know if it was meant to be particularly regional, don't think so. But it felt a bit like reading 'Balarama' comics or listening to bits and pieces of the Aithihyamala. Not sure if that's what LJP intended, but just the sensation I had. Of course Western. But did you miss the Japanese touch? Mixed in with Kalari, the Kerala martial arts. Also, Helen from Sholay, think that dance was meant to be a tribute to that other Indian Western, but the rest farcical. Sure it had deep philosophical undertones. Will need to understand those better. One day!

it wasn't my favourite movie, i didn't enjoy some of the story telling aspects and some of the characters seemed pretty meh in my opinion. I thought it was visually great except for some obvious cgi/props(the head of the white lady for one) but that is usually pretty common for Malayalam movies since they're usually on a tighter budget. Plus I heard they had some scheduling issues with Mohanlal or something so maybe thats why? It was funny being in the theatre though because there was genuinely nobody else there. just me and my family. I WENT 3 DAYS AFTER A MOHANLAL MOVIE RELEASED IN KERALA. It was surreal to not have an army of loyal lalettan fans.
