AR Rahman is the best musician out there in India. Just give him some time to compose though. Lots of producers hassle him to come up with something quickly and that’s when he falters. When he composes in his own time each song is a masterpiece. Rockstar is one such album. The song Tu Hi re from Bombay movie coupled with jaw dropping visuals by Mani Ratnam is arguably one of the best cinematic moments in Indian cinema. I’ve watched that song maybe 10000 times.

I think in the Lagaan documentary it was Aamir Khan who said he mistook AR Rahman's shyness as arrogance when he first met him. He was therefore not very excited when Ashutosh Gowariker wanted to get Rahman on board. It was only after Aamir met Rahman again for Lagaan that he realised that Rahman wasn't arrogant at all.
