Korbin, yes Tamil movie industry has uniqueness not just coz that dont have parallel movement for movies but also because the way in which Politics and movie industry is intertwined. This doesnt happen in any other industry in India where a state's head comes from a movie industry and where movie industry plays such a vital role in politics . For almost 7 to 8 decades barring very few every other head of the state has come from movie industry .It plays such crucial role that even someone who arent a native of Tamil Nadu has become Chief Minister of the state due to their mesaages in movies and their movies -MGR who was played by Mohanlal in the movie Iruvar. It is a curse sometimes as you know as politically aware as the Tamil audience are ,they can be swayed emotionally by the movie industry and their favorites. The blessing outweighs the curse as movies like Karuthamma,Madras,Asuran JaiBhim ,Karnan, Mamannan ,Viduthalai Gargri reaches wider population and becomes super hit as well.

Very well put Thiru 👏. Completely agree with you. People can have their own opinions about Dravidian movement but Film industry played an integral role on propagating it to Tamilians that it reached nook and corner of the state, they used street theater effectively and then went with cinema for the political..My grandma used to speak with so much pride about Anna's Velaikari play and what impa t it hand on her and others. You just dont start about Parasakthi ,my whole family can talk for hours about it proudly like they made the movie haha. I really hope Korbin and Rick could watch the movie Parasakthi and understanding the brilliance of the writers and movie makers who effectively used the cinema just like press almost 60-70 decades ago.

Rightly said Thiru, that is the reason many Tamil patreons take their movies more seriously which may look frivolous to the rest but there is a reason and decades of history behind it. Oh and also the step motherly treatment handed over to non hindi movies for ages which is slowly but steadily changing. But what makes me really happy and proud is when I see the younger generation Eelam Thamizgargal like Api echoing the same emotions even if they grew up in the western society 💙

😊 Tamil is the identity I hold onto the most and is a prevalent value across the Tamil community here in Canada. Our people were forced to leave the country because of an oppressive government in SL but that won’t ever stop us from carrying on our language and culture for generations to come . No matter how many people try to💜

Thats lovely and great to hear api 💙 i wish more Tamilians living abroad start doing that with their children and be proud of their language and its rich history.

It definitely helps that my family always watched Tamil films growing up and that I was spoken to in Tamil :) plus the main thing was that our language and culture were the only things we (my generation) had really to connect to our roots , since SL isn’t exactly a place we’d call home.
