Ok can see it now. Hey the film is not so much about corruption but about social injustice. Injustice in policy making towards the adivasis (tribals), the dalits and others. The corruption in the police is only a symptom or the side effect of the larger injustices on these many communities. Also Vijay Sethupathi's character is Soori's love interest's uncle. It is her mother that you see him rescuing in the flashback. I dreaded watching this film for some time as I knew the theme. But ended up watching this film the same week as Jawaan. And gosh, the latter pales in the shadow of Viduthalai. I wish SRK would put his money, his name and his acting into films like this one and Maaveeran. Also, please take a note that two other renowned directors acted in this film, Gautham Menon as the senior police guy and Rajiv Menon as the district collector (I did not know how he looked and kept wondering who that great actor is). I especially liked the Director's Cut. I wish all directors were allowed to showcase those versions. I like that they are longer and includes all that Vertimaran wanted to show.
