Dhanush couldn’t make it to the airport in thiruchitrambalam because he wasn’t wearing a helmet in 2022.. this movie was made at a time when helmet wearing was suggested strongly but wasn’t enforced.. 😬

Ok Kanmani is a beautiful movie.. ok Jaanu made in Hindi was not directed by Mani Ratnam but Shaad Ali.. it didnt have the same sensitivity as Ok Kanmani.. Casting could also be an issue .. Songs were by A R Rahman so no doubt they were awesome ! I had the good fortune of witnessing AR Rahman live here in LA.. whenever he had somgs that were both in Tamil and Hindi, he would sing it in both the languages.. I have to point out one thing though. Tamil audience is very possessive.. think of it like that mom in the audience who would stand up and clap loudly cheering for her kid.. ignoring everyone else around her.. Similar thing would happen.. when he would sing in hindi, they would be quiet and as soon as he would sing in Tamil, the cheer would be so loud... almost deafening :D I see the same kind of possesiveness here on Patreon..

Revati, Have you ever heard a song written in Marathi first and then translated into Hindi? Or any other language? Your response to the Marathi song will be very different compared to me. I would only be reacting to the melody and therefore might not be as emotionally invested in the song. For me two songs one in tamil and other in Hindi The melody might be the same but the Tamil lyrics that carry a specific meaning because it speaks to my heart.. I believe our hearts know language especially our mother tongue and when we hear something that speaks to our hearts we react to it differently than when we hear a song that shares a melody with that song.. or when we hear songs in language we don’t understand. So we clearly prefer a song in the language that we know. Therefore, I wouldn’t say we are possessive about our Tamil songs, we are just connecting with the meaning and melody whereas the Hindi version doesn’t invoke the same emotions. I have been to 5 AR Rehman concerts and each time I patiently wait to hear the Tamil version of a song and when we do it is over! For example Venilave Venilave and Chanda re Chanda re.. As for the patreons here, I am going to take the liberty to speak for them when I say it isn’t possessiveness that drives our behavior, it is our insistence that Korbin understands that the movie people are suggesting is a remake of a Tamil or Malayalam movie.. because the people suggesting aren’t sharing that information so we feel like we have to.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I understand you completely.. sairat was "remade" in Hindi and what a disaster.. but The director and producer was also changed.. and apparently it worked for some ..Music was still amazing though as the music was again by Ajay Atul (But audience wise, Marathi audience is very different than Tamil audience. Marathi audience is reserved, more focus is on theatre and acting than commerce. Still pretty rooted and doesnt even want to pander entire India so no comparison there.. ) the same makers are making the movies separately to cater to different set of audience and things are changed accordingly.. Like I have watched both Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy. I watched Arjun Reddy first, but I definitely liked Kabir Singh better .. The makers were same.. sensibilities were changed ..then what was made first doesnt matter or which one is a remake.. Hence say Rahman's songs are amazing in both languages.. but not every Hindi song works in Tamil and vice versa.. like when they dubbed Robot songs, they didnt work in Hindi at all.. but Hindustani songs did.. My favorite albums of Rahman are Rangeela and Dil se .. I like Chachi 420.. and I love it as is.. i dont feel the urge to watch it in Tamil coz it was made for Hindi audience separately.. Now its indeed is a difficult decision for OsR to make a decisions on what to watch first and what they relate to more..

Revati, hmm I honestly wonder if you are using the word pander in the correct way. Tamil movies don’t try to cater to entire india and for the most part they are also rooted in the culture ( that’s why movies like a Karnan Veda Chennai and super deluxe didn’t resonate with Rick) Tamil movies suffer from hindi production houses wanting to remake them in Hindi.. so this is why I wonder if you are using pander in the right way..

By Pander For Marathi movies, I meant they dont even try to reach wider audience. Also because Hindi movies are also mainly made in MH.. Marathi audience is a very critique loving audience and hard to please when it comes to art in their language.. they will watch certain style in hindi but if same is tried in Marathi, it will not be accepted.. Tamil audience is opposite of that. You love your stars and movies like no other .. I mean it in a good way :) Its an observation.. not judgement..
