Tamil speakers, please do watch this. If you are interested in languages and where they came from, or wonder about what the most ancient of Indian history must have been like, this is a MUST watch. But you'll need some serious Tamil skills - much of it is cen-Tamil, nor kotun-Tamil and most of us understand less cen-Tamil than we think. There are subtitles, which helps - they failed to play when i first watched. For non-Tamils: There are three primary forms of Tamil. Not dialects - there are dozens of those. Basic forms. Sanka-Tamil or Sangha-Tamil is the classical form, from literature in the Classical "Sangam" era. Cen-Tamil is formal Tamil, used today in government and official communication, print, literature, poetry, some news broadcasts and some lyrics Kotun-Tamil is the colloquial spoken language. The three are similar, but quite different.

There are already English Captions. They're not great - a little stilted, kinda like AI-based translations - but they're good enough to understand what is being said. First three episodes are already up. I discovered this series only because of this OSR reaction, which was just in time for me to catch the 3rd episode live as it premiered. So thanks Rick and Korbin. You helped me find evidence for something I've been arguing for a long time. In fact, the very first conversation I had with the girl I went on to marry was this argument, which she found very amusing, being not of Tamil origin. Now, some 15 years later, I have a documentary to show her!! :-)
