You missed the most obvious symbolism -- the game of dice. :). But yeah, the technicals on this movie is on a different level. My fav performance was that of the cook. I do understand the cailber of Mamooks and Arjun, so my bars were already high for these folks... But the cooks ( siddharth ) performace was an eye opener and he was amazing. Overall a directors movie.

Its interesting that Rick mentioned its very Mel Gibson-ish, Apocalypto ends with showing Spanish conquistadors showing dawn of new age, and this movie ends with showing invading Portuguese, signaling a new age? Also showing power transfer to the invaders..
