I really wish I didn't have do this, but this is getting out of hand.

I am going to clear the air when it comes to Russell:

Russell is not a rapist. He is a victim of false accusation.

There have been several instances now of people either not understanding this concept or are maliciously misrepresenting it to make me look bad.

Here is my final stance on the topic.

I am not a "rape apologist".

If you are not able to handle a mature exploration of the topic of rape and false accusations (or any of the assortment of heavy themes I'm covering, for that matter), then you have no business reading Santa Lucia.

Thank you for your time.

incredibly silly and embarrassing people didn't really get the message, but I guess it had to be said. sorry it ended up that way and hopefully this clears up any issues in the future about that

Kilik Odagawa

Is this the kind of absolute nonsense people kick up over fantasy novels now?

This is really ironic and goes to show how believable the situation in-story actually is, people are just reading the surface level details and taking it as the whole truth.

Lucia

I’m beyond frustrated that people couldn’t read the narrative cues which heavily suggested that we were not privy to Russell’s side of the story. False accusations of rape can destroy peoples’ lives, and I personally thought you and the team were doing a really tasteful job of approaching the topic, and I look forward to continuing to see this story unfold.

Seriously, the people spouting that are illiterate at BEST. At worst, they are the type of people to cry victim as a malicious attempt to take down what they see as a "rival" VN. I really really really can't stand that portion of the furry community because they keep trying this crap again and again and again.

Thus they enjoy VNs like FBtW more than stories with depth and perspective. Thinking is hard. I'm really sick of it that's why I'm taking a break from the community right now. Everyone can enjoy what they want, but in this case they should be embarressed since they're objectively wrong in how they perceive the unfolding story. Aren't you too disappointed and a bit fed up with our fellow readers?

Right? But as long as sex and awkward romance exist in FVNs everyone is happy. People don't realize visual NOVELS are about telling a tale not showing naked furries every scene.

I'm sorry you have to read such unspeakable nonsense. Santa Lucia has been one of the greatest of all FVN the moment it was made. That people can't think two steps ahead or read between the lines is just painful. It goes to show all elements of narratives have to be seen to be believable nowadays. But then where would be the mystery, the slow unfolding of the drama and even the plot twists? According to what I learned back in school you're doing it right. I hope you are not too discouraged by these individuals and are still having fun plotting, creating, writing. Thank you <3

"Embarrasing" ...exactly the word I chose to write too. The mastery of mystery story telling is to lead the reader astray so they get confilcted and don't know what to think anymore, before another hint is revealed and the "big picture" comes to be. Patience is another factor which needs to be taken into account, for the reader of course.

Yep, with no way to proof your innocence or way to atone in the eyes of the other party (A Silent Voice) you're fucked. The creators of Santa Lucia as well as their daughter project, Morenatsu Homecoming, are doing a marvelous job. I'm really sad that people can't appreciate great story telling anymore and be patient. They chose a few themes to build one nicely crafted story in a sense-making way and built the characters around it. I for one appreciate the effort.

Okay, people are accusing before the story is even written which brings up the issue of it feel people are guilty before even the can state full facts or their side is shown. This is very much like life. People are casting judgement before anything is stated and I am sure this is how Russel feels as well and how he avoids or gets angry when it is brought up. He is already guilty in their eyes and that makes him visibly upset. Judgement is cast even before his side is said or from his actions prior. Dahz you write man and I can't wait to read more. Don't cast your stones so quickly until you have all the evidence and time to think it over to make a rational decision. This is a good lesson.

Umm, wow. I can't believe some people would say such non-sense. It's pretty clear that Russell was falsely accessed of the deed from the clues in the story. Some stuff is still unknown like did the female in question do it on her own or was pressured into making the claim. Was she actually raped by another and didn't want to say who the real person was, so picked Russell cause he was a bit of an outsider? Either way we still do not have enough info and second at no point did I read any sort of "rape apologist" dialog in this VN. Sorry that you had to go through this Dzhan and group.

Shadow Nightclaw

Agreed, particularly with the rather heavy hint dropped when the player character overhears the three individuals at lunch discussing Russel. With at least one or two mentioning they've gotta do some planning on how to deal with him. Which hints that they may well have 'planned' something with Russel previously, hence the false rape accusation. :/ It was well done though, since it left that small nugget of whether he did do it or not. But that scene also leaves a heavy nugget of 'Did they frame the guy?'.

I dread whenever this happens to something I enjoy. SJW idiots always do this, they are incapable of enjoying escapism (to them escapism doesn't exist) and exploring themes of diverse nature, always common in fiction, without getting offended or finding something "problematic." They are like those obnoxious moms from the 70s-80s who instigated the Satanic Panic and claimed everything was perverted and sinful. EDIT: Those moms also were directly responsible for ruining the Tim Burton Batman films with their crap. Because of their outcries we never got Burton's Batman 3.

sorry to hear that, people need to calm down and realize this is fiction. i am really looking forward for this novel and morenatsu, please keep up the great work :)

Oh yeah, I also despise FBtW. Initially I was entertained by it, but halfway through I began to notice something was off about it, now I feel ashamed of investing time on it. This VN on the other hand, no regrets, it made me cry and took me on a roller coaster of emotions, and had a very beautiful message on the non-exclusive nature of love. Also loving the sci-fi elements.

Totally. The purpose of fiction is to explore untold, delicate, dangerous topics. Why write about real life when nothing's left to be explored? If something is too foreign or alien to you, then don't meddle with it, simple as that. Enjoy what you want to enjoy and don't force yourself. But don't talk about matters you can't understand also, unless you exert yourself to understand.
