Heya guys!

We're finally live with hands down our most ambitious build to date! Three major areas were focused on for this month: Progressing the story into day 4, completely revamping the game's user interface, and finishing the gallery system for higher tier patrons.

If any of you know how Ren'py works, then you're likely aware of just how difficult it is to customize the UI in the engine. After spending most of my free time this month on getting everything to work and looking pretty, I think we've managed to get a result we can be proud of. We're particularly happy with how the main menu screen turned out!

For our higher tier patrons, we've finally managed to finish up the gallery! There are all sorts of special goodies for you guys to dig into, and we can't wait to hear what you think of it!

On the writing front, because most of my time was dedicated to coding this month we only managed to write a "half" update, meaning with all the branches taken together the amount of content is a little more than half of what we usually put out per month. That isn't to discount what has been written this month, though. We're sure quite a few of you will be surprised at where we decided to go, and the seeds for important plot developments have finally been sown. We hope you enjoy what we've got for you this month!

Phew, this update took a lot out of us. We ended up biting a lot more than we were able to chew this month, but we persevered because we wanted to really take what we have to offer in SL to the next level. In fact, I consider this to be the most important update we've put out for the game so far. I really hope the final result was worth the slight delay in release!

+ 7 new songs added

+ Simplified censorship settings (make sure to set it again if you had the earlier options on!)



Bug fixes!

+ Hide UI function now properly hides screen effects like sunset and low lighting

+ Editing pass to fix inconsistencies (Carlos's voice, Nate's voice, certain brand names, text box overflow, etc,.)

+ Fixed day 3 vision to make it clearer who the protagonist is

+ Chapter Select now correctly skips the opening video



+ The grand Gallery revamp!

So do you consider the UI more or less complete? Do you intend more work in next few months?

The UI is complete for the most part. We may change some things down the line if they aren't working as intended, but for now it's done.

–SPOILERS– (kind of) Fantastic update! Though I surely hope Santa Lucia won't turn into another Echo... You've really outdone yourself/ves with the UI, the new beginning AND the title screen too! Love it, I really do. I don't think any VN I played even has an intro like that. The dreams were very unexpected, but okay. You come to wonder, if they will be happening similarly and this was a foreshadowering. What also intrigued me is: Will Ben somehow be able to control his destiny through his dreams? It almost seems like he's aware of what's happening inside of them to some extent. But honestly, I don't think this was intentional and just there to add more drama. Personally I wouldn't mind a fantasy spin, a "gay-remake of Life is Strange" so to say lol. However it's not necessary, because so far the game has been true to it's realism. I like how much you can interpret or fantasize over and into the game. It adds a mysterious note to it that I appreciate. Once again you did a fine job! Thx a bunch. Until next month~ (The unlockable thing is the gallery?)

Cool UI, it's become unique, which I like. Also I am beginning to think that Zach is the murderer in the red hoodie, you know the one shown in the beginning in Ben's nightmare with the scary mask. I also get the feeling that after Ben got back from the Library or Gym, depending on your choice, that when Ben went into his room, he heard a noise, I think that was Zach, I think Zach watches Ben as he is sleeping.

If there's a CG that's not unlocked in the gallery despite having played through everything, you might have the first version, which had a broken flag for that particular CG. We replaced that version with a new link to a fixed version on this post! And thank you for the feedback, I'm happy you're liking the new update and the UI! As for plot stuff, I'll let people decide what they think is happening, hehe.
