Edit: SILVIA!!!! I typed the part below before the end where you talked about the show!!! Edit 2: My comments below are based on ep 1-2 only. I've already seen 3 and some things have changed. I'm going to talk a bit about the show and not the participants. Let's start with Ground. I LOVE GROUND. My opinion is that the trainees are really focusing on improvement. It must really drive them. The ILand has too many distractions. All the amenities may be a bit much. I'm not for depriving trainees on purpose. I just think the possibilities for getting unfocused are greater. Now the show itself. I'd say it's 80% invested in developing a new group and 20% entertainment for the watchers. It's great that the participants can "vote out" the others. Is it strategy or attempting to better the group as a whole? Now we have to be honest here. Shows like this (Survivor for instance) are HEAVILY edited. Typically producers will play favorites and so what is really taking place may not be that at all. Shows like Big Brother have 24 hour feeds for us to watch so we know how different the edit is compared to the real deal. Now the last thing. A public vote. HATE IT. It's very unreliable. People that really love a participant, will do anything to get him the most votes. Please don't get the idea that I dislike this show. I love it! I tend to be a realist about survival shows. Also, GO HEESEUNG!

I definitely share a lot of the same opinions with you! I've also only watched the first 2 episodes so far, so I'm going off of that. I actually feel like being in the Ground is an advantage, because if you look at the 2nd episode you can see that they seem a lot more unified and there is less stress than in the I-land. Also, they get to focus more on developing individually and if they are chosen by the producers to go to I-land we know that they have a lot of potential. First Impressions: Jake is definitely my current favorite. He stood out to me since day 1 because he seemed so sweet and genuine, and he was trying to comfort the other members. He also showed that he has a great work ethic because he kept practicing the dance even though it didn't come as naturally to him as the others. Other than him, Sunghoon, Geonu, Daniel and Jungwon stood out to me the most. I also really liked the way Hanbin was teaching the others in the Ground. I thought Ta-ki was really cute and his loyalty stood out to me as well, although he's not in my current lineup. I actually didn't like Sunoo that much on day 1 because I felt like he didn't seem that friendly compared to Jake, but I realized later that he actually seems like a very sweet and positive person and he was probably just nervous which made him act more awkward. I actually really like his voice and stage presence, so he's one of my top 7 now. About Seon, Heesung, Ni-ki and EJ, I definitely agree that the show is painting them in a bad light. I kind of just felt bad for Seon because he trained for so long but I didn't think his performance stood out that much, and he felt like he had to resort to going behind people's backs for them to not vote him out. I wasn't a fan of Heesung because I felt like he kept trying to deflect the criticism he was receiving by saying he never wanted to be the center in the first place, but later saying that he didn't want to give it up. I feel like he could have been a little more honest and straightforward with the group. I also didn't like how he was teaching, but I understand that he probably thought it was the best way to do it at the time. However, I don't think he should have given up the center position since he is a lot more confident vocally than Ni-ki. I think Ni-ki could still have taught the dance without being the center. For Ni-ki and EJ, I didn't really like that they voted out their friends without telling them to their face, but I can understand their reasoning. I like both of them in their unit performances, so it was a little disappointing to see that they were being portrayed negatively. My top 7 so far: 1. Jake 2. Jungwon 3. Geonu 4. Sunghoon 5. Sunoo 6. Daniel 7. Hanbin

(Somehow I can't find my comment that I wrote earlier, so I'm writing again) I'm glad that we share our bias and bias wreckers. I couldn't agree more on what you said about Daniel. He caught my eyes right from episode 1 where we performed Any Song, but in episode 2 I get to respect him even more for his strong stage presence on stage, and more importantly OFF stage where he was brave enough to speak out and eagerly communicate with everyone even though he's the youngest. Jungwon is definitely an all rounder. He dances and sings so well and his voice is so unique that it catches me all the time. And for Sunoo, man I just can't shut up about him. He's so adorable and talented, he is the one whose presence just brightens up the whole room. He's currently my top bias. Also, let me talk about the type of leadership this show has portrayed us so far. Seon was definitely the one who was making moves from the very beginning. But the way he is communicating with the team seemed a way too divisive. Even when he decided to talk about changing the center position, he tried to talk to Heeseung with few members that do agree with him rather than making it into public discussion. That contrasted with Heeseung, who may be a little pushy but always tries pull the potential conflict on to the surface and let all 12 of them talk about it. I think that is kind of leadership that is required in I-Land. Whenever they have disagreements or obstacles, all of them should take part in common decision making process. In the Ground, Hanbin was strong and sweet enough to be a somewhat leader and teach others dance moves. He tried to focus on every single person and still he managed to respect their own potential and ability. I think that was a great leadership for the Grounders, whose only goal is the improvement of oneself. (+an HOUR long review? I feel like I'm listening to a lecture LOL i loved it!)

My top 5 that I’m 99.999% sure that will make it to the final 12😊 1. Jay - First applicant to catch my eye just the way he carries himself and his strong personality as well as playfulness/kindness he also shows dependable leadership skills in later episodes(Thank you for persuading our aunty pillbug☺️) 2. Jungwon - I can see we had similar reasoning why our pretty eyed boy had us swooning over him, I originally really liked his vocals and just the cuteness he radiates but he has proved he’s a great dancer as well, especially in future episodes 3. Daniel- Loved him ever since his first performance and just his personality kept winning me over every week, literally can do no wrong in my eyes 4. Geonu - He first reminded me of an actor so that caught my attention but then I kept noticing how stable his vocals were and the potential he has when he’s on stage, I can also see him being a mediator if there’s ever conflict because he gives off a chill and wise vibe 5. Sunghoon - Not gonna lie it was mainly eye candy at first he’s just so handsome and I was so intrigued with his ice skating background that I wanted to see what he would bring to the table and in future episodes he left me mind blown🤯

Also thank you, I knew I wasn’t the only one with a notebook of notes about the contestants and the show😂

So, I'll only try the TOP7 after the first two episodes. (I did not consider the final lineup for a debut group here, just who I liked overall. It can definitely change later.) 1. Sunoo 2. Daniel 3. Jungwon 4. Sunghoon 5. Jake 6. Jay 7. Hanbin But I also like to add sth. about two controversial characters. 1. Seon rubbed me the wrong way from the very beginning (for some reason I thought of Tom Riddle during EP. 1 ^^°) and I just cannot shake if off. :( (I try to be neutral.) Something about his entire presence is just... (and I did watch I-Cams, I'd like to add). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We'lll see going forward. 2. Ni-ki is an amazing dancer. (I also need to remind myself that he's actually a few months younger than Ta-Ki.) I also like his tone of voice though it may not be the strongest (definitely needs more work). I agree with you regarding his approach towards voting. But also, sometimes I think the translations in the show are a bit off or since Korean is not his 1st language maybe some things may come across a bit differently because of that. You know? Never hated him and right now I feel kinda neutral towards him.

When you talked about Jay I felt that! I totally felt the same vibes from him too! The kind of kdrama/manhwa arrogant antagonist/love rival? But after a character arc, when all viewers realised he has a heart of gold and was misunderstood the whole time? He’s a bit intense, but it’s fine, and I definitely have him in my own 12.

My current top5: Jungwon (DUH!), Daniel, Sunoo, Heeseung, Sunghoon. I really wish we could see more of Hanbin, i feel like he deserves more spotlight with his dancing skills. He is the leader of Vietnamese dance crew and it would be amazing to have someone like him in the final line-up. I also like Jay and Jake, but they need to show more their skills. Geonu has really strong vocals so I'm pretty sure he will debut too, I just so far dont relate to him on more personal level. Over all it would be great to see more individual stages to have an idea about boys capabilities. Maybe we will see that in Season 2 :)

I have a strong top5 : Jungwon, Sunoo, Jay, Heeseung, Sunghoon. Not sure about the others yet.

My faves so far: 1. K 2. Daniel 3. Heeseung 4. Geonu 5. Jungwon 6. Hanbin 7. Jake

Nicole

These are in no particular order, but this is what I’m thinking might be the final lineup on people who impressed me 1. Heeseung 2. Jay 3. Daniel 4. K 5. Geonu 6. Sunghoon 7. Jungwon I’m not sure how many members they plan on having… is it 12 for sure? For some reason, because certain contestants have different vibes, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are 2 groups that come from this.

I'm loving this show and totally agree with your opinions about a lot of the participants so far. The 12 I'd choose as of right now (not exactly in order of fave) would be: 1. Sunoo (Love him sm! Love his personality, he's so cute and optimistic! And really talented as well. One of my faves atm) Taki (So cute and sweet. Definitely has a lot of potential) Sunghoon (Well-rounded: talented, good-looking, and sweet as well) Daniel (Totally agree with you. He has so much potential. Sweet personality, cute, and great vocals too) K (Really caring, he's a great dancer) Jake (Also has a lot of potential. He's hard working and doing so well given how little he trained for) Heeseung (Definitely has talent. He's well-rounded as well. He tried hard to lead and I think he has a lot of potential too) Jungwon (He has such a cute face, I agree. I also really liked his vocals) Geonu (Also has great vocals. He did really well during their performance :)) Jay (Hard-working and persistent, has potential) Hanbin (Great dancer, liked how he interacted and taught the others) Niki (Agree that he's a talented dancer. His personality... I'll have to see..) (I think him and some of the others could work on thinking about the team more. I can understand them bc I'm sure they're under a lot of pressure and are competing to be a part of the 12, but I hope they can also learn to work together, trust each other, and build a stronger bond. Help each other out and really become a great group) I'm looking forward to seeing more. I'm sure as we watch more episodes, our opinions about each participant could change, so I'm keeping an open mind. But yeah, those were my first impressions :))
