IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT!

Well not so much an announcement as a reminder! TONIGHT (Monday Nov. 1st) is our first live show in about 2 years! If you’re in Chicago please come to Lincoln Hall and join us for 90 minutes of tomfoolery! If you are anywhere else in the world please consider buying a ticket for the Livestream of the show where you can chat in and watch all the wildness that happens! From Adal:

I had a really wonderful October! I didn’t get to watch as many scary movies or visit as many haunted houses as I wanted but overall just a delightful month!

Yesterday on Halloween my mom came up to visit (she’s coming to the live show tonight so everyone behave!) and we sat on my porch and handed out candy together which was a real treat! We saw a homemade tornado costume, a homemade racoon costume, and then about 5000 spidermen and 1 Sonic the hedgehog.

Some fun stuff I got up to this past month: Sadieh and I flew to Denver for a day to visit the new Meow Wolf there which was incredible! I learned how to ‘unlock the sky’ in a certain area of the space and got a round of applause which was WELL EARNED. I highly recommend you check out any of the Meow Wolf locations! Jemma went to the Denver location about a week after us as part of her bachelorette party and loved it as well!

Jemma and I had a blast doing the Halloween livestream! Thank you to everyone who tuned in and a special shout-out to all my Wrench Collectors out there! I’m mailing out prizes to you soon!

I saw stand-up for the first time in forever with man Rob White. The headliners were Sam Morrill and Dina Hashem. Very funny show.

I went to Six Flags with Jemma and Kelly P. and had a great time! We did all 5 haunted houses as part of Fright Fest and they were all pretty good with one of them being outstanding. I can’t recall the name of that one though. Kelly? Do you recall? We spotted a Long John Silvers on the way over and Kelly was kind enough to stop for me but it turned out to be CLOSED. So we had to choke down some Culvers instead.

Vermont was beautiful in the fall. I now understand what leaf peeping is all about and I’m absolutely on board. Jemma and I went to Mount Snow and sought out a few covered bridges and just had the best time soaking up all the trees and small town markets. I would absolutely move to Vermont.

I’m starting to plan my Bachelor Party so we’ll see what shakes out there! My favorite city is New Orleans but I’m not sure how ideal that is given their recent months and what not so who knows. If nothing else I’ll just rent a cabin and demand everyone play board games. If you have any advice or suggestions I’m all ears baybee!

I’m pumped that the NBA season has started again and Jemma and I have tickets for the Bulls vs. Mavericks game next week! Very excited to see my dude Luka Doncic live and see my first live NBA game ever. I hope I get on the kiss cam and then something wonky happens to me!

This weekend Jemma has a trip to Puerto Rico for work that I’m going to crash. Anyone know what there is to do in Aguadilla?

Here’s what media/pop culture I’ve been consuming! In the comments let me know if there’s anything I should be checking out!

TV:

  • Succession Season 3 - chef kiss
  • Midnight Mass - a weird, sometimes bad show but I keep coming back for more. Mostly because of Hamish Linklater. My friend Tim Sniffen put it best when he said it’s ‘a show about what happens when a tiny island community becomes infected with audition monologues’.
  • Lucifer Season 6
  • The Movies That Made Us
  • Inside Job
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 11
  • Sam Morrill: Full Capacity on YouTube
  • Explained
  • Sexy Beasts Season 2

Movies:

  • The French Dispatch - went and saw this with Arnie and Matt as a Magic Tavern hang! Very enjoyable
  • Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin - Everyone please watch this and support our friend Dan Lippert as a breakout star! He absolutely rocks this gig!
  • Friday
  • Free Guy
  • No Time To Die - there was A LOT of time to die. It just kept going
  • Pig - wanted to like this Nic Cage movie but turns out I hated it!
  • It Comes At Night - the saddest movie I think I’ve ever seen? Outside of maybe Breaking the Waves and Dancer in the Dark?
  • Little Shop of Horrors
  • Dear Evan Hanson

Other Stuffs:

  • My friend Travis McElroy has a new podcast out called ‘Chasing Immortality’ and it’s a creepy, funny, interesting ride! Listen to episode 1 out now!

I guested on the following podcasts!

  • Pop of Passion - The Podcast

Can’t wait to do the live show tonight for ya’ll and hopefully do something resembling a tour at some point next year! Also next month I hope to return to adding a playlist to the newsletter for anyone who enjoys those!

Hope everyone is doing well and thank you for your continued support!

Love,

Adal

From Erin

Hello!

Here is what I’m into right now!

I’m finally reading Sally Rooney’s new book Beautiful World Where Are You. It’s great.

The Hills: New Beginnings. This is unhinged garbage and I love it. They just snuck Mischa Barton onto the show as if I wouldn’t remember what show about Southern California she was on in the early 2000s

The Bold Type on Hulu. This is UNHINGED GARBAGE but if you need something so mindless check it out.

Doug Days on Disney + is so relaxing I love it.

Also I turn 30 this month-what should the theme of my party be? Right now I’m leaning towards Mermaids & Newsies. I don’t know.

I hope you have a cozy month!

From JPC:

Hey Riddiots -

Not much for me to announce this month, so I'll cede my time to this:

If you're in the $8 Tier, mark your calendars because Friday 11/19 at 7pm central will be the monthly live-stream and this month it's going to be Cooking Thanksgiving Dinner with JPC. And I guess it kinda goes without saying, but this will not be a "normal" Thanksgiving dinner. So be there! (or don't, you can watch the replay)

Other than that, you can find me on Twitch.tv/sharkbarkman and you can also listen to The Billbuds Podcast. We just wrapped on Weeztoberfest 2021 (our annual month-long celebration of all things Weezer).

Oh, and tell 5 friends about the Patreon because the next stretch goal is Hey Riddle Station!

-JPC

Other News!:

  • This months Review Crew poll for the $8 tier will be up shortly!
  • JPC will be hosting this months Livestream for the $8 tier on Friday 11/19 at 7pm CST! It will involve some Thanksgiving cooking!
  • HYAAH! Saddle Saddle! Part 1 was released this past Friday and part 2 will be out this coming Friday! We hope you enjoy it!

As always let us know what YOU recommend in the comments below and if there’s anything you’d like to hear us do on a Patreon episode!

Love you all and thank you again for the support! We are perverts, bum ba dum dum dum dum dum.

Adal. Thoughts on Dear Evan Hanson? I know a lot of people were disappointed however I heard that if you don't really know the show you might be cool with the movie

The best haunted house at Six Flags was called “13th Order”! Truly one of the best haunted houses I’ve been to.

I pray that mermaids and newsies is not just a casual way to say mermaids or newsies. I want both at once.

Just discovered the album The Party by Andy Shauf. He’s like a more mellow Elliot Smith with some late Beatles vibes. Standout tracks are The Magician, Early to the Party, To You, and Alexander All Alone.

Have been listening through some older Review Crew’s, and have two recommendations for Erin in particular. 1. Galavant. It’s a medieval musical comedy on Disney+, and is hilarious. Timothy Omundson (Lassiter from Psych) plays an evil king, and he is having a delightful blast. Music is by Alan Menken of Disney fame. 2. The Kid Detective. Adam Brody plays a 30-ish year old man, who was a famous child detective in school. His life plateaued from there, never really improving, until he’s suddenly given his first murder case by a high schooler. It’s really good, and quite dark at points.

Are there separate tickets for the livestream or are they all the same? All I see listed is General Admission Seated.

I see you've taken the note on exclamation marks. Keep working on this. Also, I'd LOVE more boardgame recommendations. I'm only up to episode #76 so maybe you suggest heaps along the way, but when you guys talked about Burgle Bros. and Just One (waaayyy back in the 2019 episodes) I bought them immediately and loved them. Any other ideas?

Note to self: try not to have an inside joke with the HRR crew. Thank you for the boardgame recommendations.

Hey Riddle Riddle

My guy, to have an inside joke, both parties have to be participating. Try to do inside jokes with people you know!

And the ref takes a point away. Fair play. Take care and keep giving myself and others the biggest laughs on the planet. You are all phenomenal.

I have a suggestion! My favorite movie podcast is called Movie Oubliette! One of the podcast hosts lives in Cambridge and the other in Australia and they talk about obscure horror and sci-fi movies and do custom jingles based on the film scores. Quality!

mermaids and Newsies sounds perfect and if anyone questions it, just uninvite them IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY
