From Adal:

Hey Future Lizards! It’s October/Fall so I have reached peak Adal. My flannel is now appropriate to wear every day and I WILL NOT apologize.

Jemma and I had a magical time in France. We spent 2 days in Bordeaux, 7 days in the country side and 1 day in Paris where we managed to run into one of our favorite actors from Call My Agent, a French show we were obsessed with during quarantine! Highlights include: the most incredible steak, cheese, bread and wine. Exploring several medieval towns. Staying in an old mill from the 1600’s. Taking a cooking class with a Michelin star winning chef. A lime dessert that blew my mind. On the flight home Jemma gave the flight attendants a small gift so they upgraded us to business class which has now spoiled me for all other flights. I’m ruined!

For Jemma’s half-birthday (a big deal in our household) I got her some LEGO kits as she had wanted to try doing one after we saw LEGO’s everywhere in Denmark. She’s now super into putting the adult sets together so if you have any recommendations on which ones I should get her please let me know! I already got her the bonsai tree and the bouquet of flowers!

JPC and I performed 2 shows with Whirled News Tonight in Kalamazoo this past weekend thanks to Dann at Crawlspace Theater! It was such a blast to do live improv after 19 months of nothing! Thank you to all the cool HRR fans who came out and supported us and were wonderfully kind after the show! We had a fantastic meal at Principle as recommended by both former Whirled News member Jordan Klepper and HRR logo co-creator Emmaline Morris!

My sister Sadieh just wrapped her role on a new Apple TV series that will be out in 2022! She filmed for about 3 months on the show as Elizabeth Moss’ best friend. I’m INCREDIBLY proud of her and excited to see the show when it comes out!! Her and Doug’s anniversary is this Friday if you want to wish them a happy anniversary! If not she’ll assume you hate her!

Now that Sadieh is done filming her and I are going to try and hit up the new Meow Wolf in Denver! Also this month Jemma, Kelly P and myself are going to check out Six Flags Fright Fest, I’m going to try and go to a few of my favorite Haunted Houses in the Chicago area and tomorrow I leave for a trip to Vermont for 4 days! If you’re walking around Brattleboro this weekend and see an old plaid man with a beard, there’s a 10% chance it’s me!

TV:

  • Squid Game - so well done! It doesn’t seem like one of those series that stretched to 10 episodes for no reason. Perfectly paced, delightfully fucked up and now I’ll cry anytime I see a marble! My only gripe is that Korea must be hard up for good American actors because the American VIP’s that show up in the show 100% ruin every second that they are on screen! Other than that, outstanding series!
  • Reservation Dogs - maybe the best show on tv right now? So funny and heartfelt and interesting. Unlike anything you’ve seen before. Dallas Goldtooth steals the show in my opinion!
  • Love On The Spectrum Season 2
  • Survivor Season 41
  • Y: The Last Man
  • The Problem With Jon Stewart
  • SNL Season 47
  • The Circle Season 3

Movies:

  • Clueless
  • Dear Evan Hansen

Other Stuffs:

  • Sufjan Stevens new album - A Beginners Mind
  • Kacey Musgraves new album - Star-Crossed

I guested on the following podcasts!

  • Backwater Bastards podcast
  • Hitchhikers and Appetizers podcast
  • Better Movie Club podcast talking about the movie Return To Oz!

PLEASE let me know in the comments if you know of a good scary movie for October I should check out or any Halloween activities online or in the Chicago area! My horror movie recommendations for you all would be: The Thing, The Witch, REC, Blair Witch Project, Hereditary, Suspiria, Paranormal Activity, Trick ‘r Treat, When A Stranger Calls, It Follows,

I’ll be hosting the October Livestream on 10/20 at 7pm CST with Jemma, Fries and Brisket so please tune in live for some seasonal fun or check it out later to see how wild we get!

Love,

Adal

From Erin

Hello!

It’s me Erin!

This is what I’m enjoying right now-

-I know everyone has already watched squid game but I thought it was amazing. It was so disturbing so watch cautiously but I thought it was really special.

-the new season of Survivor. I watch so many seasons this year so it’s fun to watch one live

-circle season 3. I just love it I’m sorry.

-I’m rewatching succession and it’s AMAZING.

I hope everyone has a spooooky month!

-Erin

From JPC:

Hey everyone!

We've finally made it to the Spooky Season, witch means we can finally all zomBiE ourselves for once.

September was very hectic and I felt like I was doing a lot but not getting much accomplished, so instead of kicking myself for what I didn't get done, I'm going to choose to celebrate what I actually did!

First, I got my new streaming/recording studio set up. Basically, I got a track installed on my ceiling and hung audio blankets all around me. I call it my infinite void of darkness and I love it in here because it means I (and Casey) have to spend way less time cleaning up my audio for recordings. It's also fun because I get to pretend I'm a little goblin in my little cave. And we should all know by now how much I enjoy being a little goblin.

Second, I finished a book! I'm continuing on my Sanderson journey and I'm through Elantris and starting the first Mistbourne book. I enjoyed Elantris although the ending felt a little rushed. Still, cool to read an earlier book by an author I really enjoy.

Third, I got a Peloton and I'm fast on my way to becoming a #PelotonWineMom. If any of you Riddiots are part of the Peloton cult, please friend me! I believe I'm SharkBarkman and I'd love to give you some high fives. I have never really been a bike person because I'm terrified of getting hit by a car, so this seems like a healthy alternative. So far I'm really enjoying it and by that I mean, complaining about how sore I am every day.

Fourth, Adal and I went to Kalamazoo to do our first live improv show in 19 months with Whirled News and it was fantastic. It felt really good to be back in the saddle again after so long. People had to be vaccinated to attend (and a few people were turned away because of that) and everyone wore masks while they were up and about. It *felt* both safe and not weird. Kinda close to a normal show! I'm excited to hopefully do more and more of those in the coming months. And I'm eagerly anticipating a time when we can do a live HRR show as well!

Other than that, I'm playing Deathloop (starting on 10/5) on Twitch now and I just finished the first Dishonored so I'm excited to crack into that. I played the DLC to Outer Wilds and it was fantastic. It's Weeztoberfest on Billbuds which means a month of Weezer episodes (and a new theme by Arne Parrott) and the thing I'm looking forward to most this month is going to the World's Largest Corn Maze.

Hope you all stay safe and enjoy the changing of the seasons (if you live in a place that applies)

-JPC

Hey Adal, just last night I watched a movie called Marrowbone and really enjoyed it. I picked more or less a plot point pretty early on, but not everything, and I found it an enjoyable ride regardless. I think it's also one that could hold up pretty well to a fairly quick rewatch to look for certain details, though I haven't done that myself (yet?).

Another gem is Shakma, about a group of “med students “ LARPing that get attacked by a baboon.
