Wowee! How many people are still hearing bangs and booms from fireworks night and day even after the 4th?! We hope you all had a good holiday and got to visit with friends and family!

From Adal:

Hello friends! Not too much news since last month. I feel like I haven’t done much in the last 3 or 4 weeks. Lots of lazy days watching New Girl and Bluey. Sadieh is in town filming a cool thing so she’s staying with us during production and it’s been nice to have her around!

I had a great time in New Orleans and have some new places to add to my recommendations list including breakfast at Horns and dinner at The Elysian! Jemma and I got a chance to meet up with a HRR fan in NOLA which was fun and I ended up buying them a shot of Malort because they were very curious. Liquid garbage! I also was back in Las Vegas for one day because Jemma had a layover there for work so I flew out to eat some fun meals and play the metal horses again.

In about 2 weeks Jemma and I will be headed to Disney World to go to Animal Kingdom for the first time! If you have any recommendations for what to do/eat/drink please let me know! (the amazing Kelly P. has given me a great list and I’m looking to add to it!).

Erin, JPC and myself got to do a corporate improv show on Zoom the other day. Improv over Zoom is wonky and weird but it was honestly so much fun to do an hour of improv with an audience and try to do GOOD SCENEWORK! (key word is 'try') Very enjoyable  time AND we shit all over Iowa for some reason. Sorry Iowa.

Tonight!! The new season of Big Brother starts!!! Jemma and I are very excited! Feel free to watch along with us! I might start a BB channel in the Discord so we can talk house-guests!

Other than that not much to report! Please let me know what you recommend so I can watch/listen/read some cool new things! Oh! I guested on a bunch more podcasts, please check them out if you get a chance, they’re listed below!

From JPC:

Hey everyone!

Absolutely wild that we are already six months into the year. Since we are halfway through 2021, I decided I'd check in with some goals that I set for myself. I'm actually pretty proud of my exercise goals. I haven't missed a workout yet this year and I've walked/ran at least 7 miles every damn day! I'm WAY off target on my reading goal though. I'm currently reading Rhythm of War (Brandon Sanderson, Book 4 of the Stormlight Archive) and it's 1300 pages and I'm 400 pages in. And I can read about 4 pages at the end of the day before I fall asleep (my cuppenance for 7am workouts.) But I'm way above target on my "killing time playing video games" goal that wasn't actually a goal at all! I like to call something like that a "hidden goal" and only the truly gifted at setting goals can unlock it.

Speaking of video games, I dumped about 60 hours into Assassin's Creed Vahalla and it's okay? It crashes all the time and has a lot of bugs, but that's just because Ubisoft is a bad company. But for the most part it's enjoyable. it's the only game I played on stream in June (I think?) and I don't think I'm even close to done with it. I did pick up Sekiro in the Steam sale, so I might crack into that next and just get brutalized. Or I might just play something, you know, fun?

Speaking of fun, Mariah and I finished all of Attack on Titan. Now we are just waiting for the 2nd half of season 4 (which should be out in like 2 years or something). It was pretty good! Still not into Anime, but it was pretty good! I also finished Castlevania on Netflix which I liked a lot (because: vampires). Also I'd recommend watching Plan B on Hulu. It's a high school sex romp with female leads! I've also been watching Loki, but I have no feelings about it. I think I just like the noise that it makes. And I like when Owen Wilson says words that begin with 'W'. He's delightful.

Oh, and you've probably heard on the episodes but I got Invisalign. My app says that I'm 157 days to a perfect smile! Shoutout to Casey for editing out a lot of my mouth sounds, but after a month, I'm finally getting used to the sensation of having teeth trays in for 22 hours a day. I never had braces though and I have to imagine that this is way way way better. Because, you can like, take them out when you want to eat and all that.

One final recommendation: Mariah and I went to Stand-Up Burger (formerly Veggie Grill) the other day and it was great! It's basically a Chicago (and I think they have one location in Berkeley?) vegan burger place. As someone who is 2 decades into vegetarianism, I love that eating a trashy fast food burger is becoming a reality. So if you are a Chicagoan, check it out! And if you aren't, then write your congress person and demand that they take the appropriate action.

I just brewed a big ass jug of cold brew, so let's get out there and have us a summer!

Much love,

John “JPC” Patrick Coan
