Can I have a new month?? Ughhh….fine. MAY I have a new month?

This could be our last newsletter with Podcast Darling Erin Keif within Chicago limits!! WILD! No matter how much we mention it on the podcast some folks still seem to be confused so worth mentioning again, we are still continuing the podcast! We’ve recorded every episode for the last year over Zoom and will continue to do so without a hitch as Erin moves! Now as for what happens when she gets her own sitcom ‘Cousin Says Whaaaat?!’...we don’t know. Regardless, wish her safe travels!

From Adal:

This year is going by so quickly! I’m pounding out this newsletter while intermittently packing up a rental car with Sadieh’s stuff so I can drive her to Nashville in 2 hours! We are planning our trip so we get into Nashville right at 8pm so I can swing by Loveless Cafe and pick up a to go order of the best biscuits on planet earth. EVERYONE’S MOVING! It’s exciting and also sad but mostly exciting!

Jemma and I had the most incredible time in South Dakota the other week! We spent 6 days driving around the Black Hills to go to the Badlands, Custer National Park, Wind Cave, Black Elk Peak and tons more. We truly have fallen in love with that area of the US and now dream of owning a cabin there as we slip into retirement. I don’t know why I always assumed South Dakota was just like a dirt road with 2 fences and a bucket of shit but It’s phenomenal. I highly recommend it as a getaway!

What else? My birthday is in exactly one month (June 1st) so that’s always fun. Bonkers to be turning 62 already! My kneeees!!! I’m also working on a cool thing with MGM and one of my favorite actors that has momentum so hopefully it all pans out and I can give details. Either way it’s been a neat experience and a window into just how slow Hollywood is! I don't know how ANYTHING gets made!

Brisket & Fries and doing great. We put some nuts and seeds right outside the back door and a bunch of squirrels and birds come to chow down. The boys sit with their noses on the screen door going crazy at all the action outside. Jemma and I call it turning on the cat tv because it entertains them for hours.

I’m hoping things are getting safer with all the vaccinations! Ideally I can rent out an Escape Room by June and lose my mind from joy. How are you all doing?!

Here’s what I consumed in April. It’s not much because I spent most of my time staring at Bison and avoiding Big Horn Sheep on mountain roads!

TV:

  • The New Girl - just started and it’s very funny
  • Futurama - never really watched it so I started it and it’s also very funny!
  • The Circle Season 2 - best trash tv out there! If you’re watching send me your thoughts! Courtney and Lee are my favorites.
  • Are You The One - MTV reality game show from early 2000’s? It. Is. WOOF. Don’t recommend it but I have to finish.
  • Top Chef S18
  • The Falcon & The Winter Soldier
  • RuPaul S13 (trying to remain spoiler free but the person who deserved to win was robbed)

Movies:

  • Mortal Kombat
  • Nobody
  • Space Jam (THANKS ALOT)
  • The Mitchells Vs. The Machines
  • Nomadland

Other Stuffs:

  • I guested on the following podcasts! My episodes are either out now or coming soon!

1. The Completists Podcast

2. How Ya Been: With Brett DeMott (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003362741)

During most of the drive through the Black Hills Jemma and I listened to this folk music playlist (made by some Spotify user) to get that Americana vibe going!

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0jXgEigvSKeLMyHarPcSAA?si=yiedKWMwRoez7TYuNM3OCg&dl_branch=1&nd=1

On the drive BACK to Chicago, Jemma played Will Smith’s ‘Wild Wild West’ 13 times in a row! She thought that was funny…..and in hindsight it was….but in the moment my soul left my ears behind and floated to hell.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me!

Adal

From Erin:

Hey friends!

I’m in the middle of moving nonsense so not a lot to share. I’m so excited for our show at the end of May.

I am obsessed with the new season of The Circle. 10/10 Please try to convince Adal and JPC that we should all go on together.

I know this song isn’t new but it’s really had my number lately!

From JPC:

Hey y'all -

It's hard to believe that April is already over, but it is and I'm glad to see it go. April is usually the last month of snow in Chicago (yes, we did have snow in fucking April again), and I'm ready to skip right over spring and into summer.

Big news last month is that Mariah, Spaghetti and I took a little vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It was a nice, quiet and relaxing trip. Those mountains are absolutely gorgeous. Highlights of the trip were we found a big open field for Spaghetti to run around in and she had the time of her life, our cabin had a hot tub so you know my ass was S.O.A.K.E.D. the entire time, and there were a whole bunch of scenic drives with pull-offs: fun for the whole family! Oh, and Fearless (Taylor's Version) came out just in time for our drive down so that was a real treat.

We watched a few movies this month too! First, the best: Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar. This movie is an absolute gem. Tons of laughs. I highly recommend it. I don't think it's streaming on any of the apps tho, so you'd have to rent it. We also watched the new Godzilla VS Kong and Mortal Kombat movies. They were both fine! I didn't think about them too hard while they were on and I deleted them from my brain immediately after they were done. Would I recommend either? Nope. Some things that have also been on while I've been in the room: The Nanny, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Younger. I have no idea what's going on in any of these shows, but I can now identify them visually. For things that I actually watched: Ted Lasso! Mariah got a free year of AppleTV so we finally watched that show and really enjoyed it. That's another one that I'd recommend, some truly laugh-out-loud moments.

I played a ton of Risk of Rain 2 last month too. At first, I was absolutely dog shit at it, but once I got the hang of the game, I can confidently say that I'm just regular dog shit at it now. It's also very fun, so definitely give it a try if you are in to 3rd person shooter roguelikes. Gotta say tho, playing multiplayer with friends is the best way to play it. I also started Disco Elysium which I'm playing on stream currently. That game has a really interesting mechanic for leveling up and interacting with the world, plus some top-notch writing and voice-acting. I'm only like 10 hours in, but it's definitely worth checking out.

Mariah and I also got our 2nd shots, so we'll be fully vax'd next week! If you haven't got your shot yet (and you live in the US) definitely go to your county/city website and sign up. It's free, it's painless (mostly) and you'll be glad you did it when you can safely gather indoors with other vaccinated people! Really looking forward to seeing friends that I haven't seen in over a year in person this month. We both got pfizer and we didn't have any symptoms/reactions after our 2nd dose. I had a little headache, but I think it was because I forgot to drink any caffeine that day.

Okay that's it for me! See you all in May!

Love,

Little Monkey Bones (now go back and read this whole thing again in the voice!)
