Whoa. It’s already February? We hit our 2 years of Patreon in January and we forgot to celebrate it! Thank you thank you thank you for all your love, support and kindness! Without you all we would probably be fine EXCEPT Erin would be living in space. So thank you for keeping Erin here on Earth!

A lot of the days are blending together so we recommend each day taking 5 minutes to an hour to just carve out something special/memorable about that day! Put on some fun clothes, play one song on repeat and come up with a lil dance! Watch a YouTube video about a skill you’ve always wanted to learn! (For me? It’s juggling and watching videos on how bourbon is made!). Write down your 10 favorite words and then tape it somewhere you’ll see it daily! (the best words are carnival, jaguar, campfire, omniscient, tactile, jam, bubble, chomp, wisp and doodle! Prove me wrong!). Let us know if you have any fun ways you’ve been making each day special or different enough to stay sane!!

From Adal:

BIIIIG HUUUUG to all of you!

What’s going on with Uncle Adal?! Jemma and I are punting our wedding again to the distant future until we can have an actual gathering, so still waiting to see when that will be; but we are excited!

Brisket had to have some minor surgery to remove some debris from his stomach but he’s fine now and zoomier than ever! Fries has not changed one hair. Still the handsomest boi around.

We got hit with a boat load of snow here in Chicago and I’m learning now as a homeowner I’m responsible for the sidewalk in front of my house; which means daily shoveling! Just like in the movies!

What else? What else? Trying to clean up and get rid of a bunch of stuff but using OfferUp is exhausting because 100 people message you ‘is this still available?’ and then never follow up. When things are clear maybe I’ll have my first garage sale.

Jemma and I are playing a lot of Klask still and more recently several games of Yahtzee. Easy to forget how satisfying it is to roll a handful of dice.

Here’s what I consumed in January!

TV:

  • Bluey - Jemma and I have started to watch an episode or 2 a day and it’s truly such a boost of joy! It’s on Disney + and each ep is only maybe 12 minutes? I honestly have laughed more during some episodes than I do at entire seasons of sitcoms. Check it out if you need some heartfelt moments between a family of 4 animated Australian dogs. (the dad character on Bluey is hands down the best improviser in the world. He says YES to everything his kids throw at him)
  • WandaVision - wowee I love this show! So much fun and I can’t wait to see where they go with it!
  • High Maintenance Season 1 & 2 - my sister recommended this to me ages ago and we just started watching. Very entertaining and great world building.
  • Lucifer season 3, 4 and 5
  • RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13
  • History of Swear Words - hosted by a wiiiild Nicolas Cage!!
  • Pretend It’s a City

Movies:

  • What the Constitution Means To Me - should be required viewing in High Schools. Wonderfully entertaining and informative to boot.
  • Falling Inn Love - fuck you
  • The Other Guys - was told this was an underrated comedy and it was ok. Some content does NOT hold up well and this movie has more screaming in it then maybe anything I’ve ever watched.
  • In and Of Itself - ok so I haven’t watched the filmed version but Jemma and I saw this live in NYC about 3 years ago. It’s a magic/mentalist show but is also about storytelling and identity. Really neat stuff!

Other Stuffs:

  • Joined Clubhouse. It’s an app that let’s you host conversations or drop in on discussions. I haven’t fully figured it out but the possibilities seems exciting! Let me know if you are on it and have and recommendations for follows or rooms!
  • I also joined TickTock! I’m so YOUNG!! (Dabs. Breaks hip).
  • Finished reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Good and a really wonderful message but a bit too dry.
  • Started reading Rachel Blooms new book I Want To Be Where The Normal People Are and it’s truly laugh out loud funny. Very excited to finish it!
  • Target now sells MILK cookies!!! If you’ve never had them, they are the best cookies in the world. MILK is the brand, created by Christina Tosi & David Chang! My favorite is the compost cookies but the truffle crumble ones are heavenly. Next time you’re at Target snag yourself some!

Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me!

Happy February!

Love,

Adal

From Erin:

Hello!

What’s up?I had the BEST time at the live show. Everyone was so kind about it and I’m feeling really proud that such funny and warm people support us. I’ve been listening to a lot of Sammy Rae and cooking a lot. I watched Blown Away on Netflix which was very comforting and the making of Frozen 2 documentary on Disney Plus that was a really easy watch.

Here is a requested playlist! I was a Nanny for most of my time in Chicago. I always made playlists for driving the kids around or when we would clean up or bake together. These are a lot of the songs that kids really enjoy in my experience! If you have kids or work with  them this is a great playlist for the car!

I hope everyone is doing ok!

From JPC:

Trying something a little different with my newsletter entry this month. I set a few goals for myself in January and then a bigger year-long project to track more of the things that I do and get more :data: because I'm a :data: freak. So I did! I'm not sure why this would be of interest to anyone, but here are some of the things I did in January:

  • I did 4200 pushups
  • I walked 569,000 steps (about 277 miles)
  • I drank 2,352 ounces of water
  • I got an average of 6 hours and 26 minutes of sleep every night
  • I ate processed sugar twice
  • I watched 9 movies
  • I read 2 books

This also gave me some good perspective on what I want to try/do differently in February. One of those things is definitely reading books which is something I love doing, but I tend to do it at night right before bed which means I get about 2 pages in and then fall asleep. This month, I'm going to set aside reading time during the day/evening BEFORE I'm too sleepy to actually get it done. I am also trying a new fitness app called Fitbod to see if I can force myself to exercise more. I walk a lot, but that's basically my only physical activity and I'm hitting a quarantine wall where something must change!

As far as recommendations, the only new thing that I've watched recently was Lupin on Netflix. It's a French conman/ heist show and I liked it a lot! I'm a sucker for that genre. Check it out, but be warned, only the first 5 episodes are out, so you won't get a resolution to the main plot.

Other News!:

  • We had the BEST time doing the January Livestream Show! Thank you so much to everyone who joined us and yelled ‘RAT CHAT!’ over and over! We hope to do more of these soon if for no other reason than to have an excuse to bask in each other’s company!
  • Our Review Crew episode for Falling Inn Love should be released this Monday the 8th!
  • Take care of yourselves and others!

As always let us know what YOU recommend in the comments below and if there’s anything you’d like to hear us do on a Patreon episode!

Don't know if y'all have ever seen detroiters but all the episodes are on cbs all access (soon to be paramount) and it's crying shame no one seems to have seen it when it was on comedy central.

To celebrate I ate a Caramello Koala for breakfast

I'd love more livestream shows! I had such a great time, all while bummin on my couch. Lately, I've been into folksy music. Rediscovered my love for The Head & The Heart's self titled album and found a new band, The Wild Reeds.

Thank you for the playlist Erin 🙏 I have a toddler who only wants to dance to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse music, and for the love of all that is holy I needed to switch it up
