Time still has no meaning and it's suddenly almost Fall. Life be BONKERS! Happy One Year to our newsletter!

From Adal (Dr. Recommendations):

Jemma and I are seemingly going to close on our house in 2 days!!! We're truly thrilled and Fries & Brisket have their tiny suitcases all packed and are ready to move! I'll send Patrons some photo's of the bar in the basement once we move in and try and update as we convert it into a full on tiki bar! I'm still taking name suggestions so please keep them coming and if you're ever in Chicago swing by for a drink! Just use the passphrase: 'Adal Owes Me Money' and you'll get full access and 1 drink. If you say 'JPC Is A Piss Prince' you'll also get a 12 oz. glass of your own urine!

Here's what I've been consuming:

TV

  1. Love On The Spectrum - highly highly recommend this! Netflix original that'll make. you laugh, cry and have a glimmer of hope in humanity.
  2. Dark: Season 3 - if you haven't watched this series, it would be a good one to start as we get into spoopy season!!
  3. Big Brother: All-Stars
  4. Hard Knocks: Rams & Chargers
  5. Teenage Bounty Hunters - was skeptical based on the name alone but Jemma and I absolutely loved this!
  6. Lovecraft Country
  7. High Score - wonderful 6 part series on Netflix on the history of video games!
  8. Upright - 3 episodes into this and it's great. Australian dark comedy starring Tim Minchin.

Movies

1. Knives Out - it's so good ya'll

2. Arlington Road

3. Project Power

4. The Magnificent 7

5. Iron Man 3 - Arnie Niekamp keeps saying it's the best Marvel movie ever made so I had to rewatch to see if I was wrong and it turns out it's still a very good movie but Thor: Ragnarok remains my #1.

6. Murder Mystery

Books

1. Name Drop by Ross Matthews

2. Ghostbusters Daughter by Violet Ramis Stiel

Video Games:

1. Fall Guys

2. Tetris VR - finally played and it's such a wild trippy experience! Great game to get high and play for hours!

Podcasts:

Here's the podcasts I guested on recently if you're looking for something new to check out!!

- Deadtime Storiez

- Good Morning From Hell!

- Dungeons & Daddies

* also last week Hello From the Magic Tavern finally recorded with one of our dream guests and it was a goddamn blast! That episode should be out in the next 2 weeks I believe!

ALSO!!! Please check out America's REAL first lady, Erin Keif, on both The ReDo Podcast and 99 Questions podcast!

ALSO ALSO!!!!! I'm in love with the new podcast Bill Buds! Please listen to it as well and let me know if one of the hosts sounds familiar. I feel like I know him but I can't quite place where from. I thiiiiink it's the man who snuck into my barn and slapped my horse but I can't be sure.

MUSIC: Here's my September playlist and hey! fair warning! It's all over the fucking place because I can't wrap my head around it already being September!

From JPC:

There is a new expansion to the board game Spirit Island and that has been devouring my time lately. Since I can't see anyone in person, I've been playing tons of Tabletop Simulator on Steam. If you've never played, it's very fun but also pretty complicated. It's also co-op so you win/lose together.

As far as tv/movies, we have been watching Lovecraft Country on HBO. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the style of TV where you have to watch 6 episodes before you know what is going on, especially if it's a show that comes out weekly so you can't binge watch it. I can't say for sure that I would recommend it, but I am enjoying the performances, even if I have no context for what is happening.

In personal news, Billbuds Podcast came out last month! We have 2 episodes (and one mini) out so far and it's been very fun to create. Thank you to everyone who gave kind words (and kind reviews) to the show. I'm currently in the 2nd act of Ghost of Tsushima on the Twitch stream and I'd definitely recommend that game. It's gorgeous and open-world. The combat-camera system can be...bad sometimes, but other than that it's a very fun experience.

I finally finished book 3 of the Stormlight Archive. I believe book 4 is slated for November, so I'm looking forward to that. Or more realistically, looking forward to hearing that it's been delayed. I'm currently halfway through The Tragedy of American Science, which is a great read. Mariah and I also started book 1 of The Broken Earth Trilogy, which is really fun so far. It's nice to read a series that has already been completed!

I like Tim Minchin (Perth represent!) and have seen Upright being plugged for ages but Adal's recommendation may make me seek out a way to watch it. Congrats on the house!

Dungeons & Daddies had been on my "try this when you run out of other podcasts" for a while, but I listened to the first episode today. It was very funny! My favorite parts were their interactions with their kids, and I'm sad that (I assume) we'll never hear that again. Really glad this podcast kept getting recommended. I think this will become part of my regular rotation.

D&Daddies crossover is something I didn't know I needed until I heard it on their episode. Can't wait.

I'm about 90% of the way through the novel Lovecraft Country and it really doesn't seem to have much of a through-plot. Maybe it will come together at the end.
