Hey guys,

So I'm back now from visiting the in-laws across the pond and it's straight back to work on version 0.6. We're in the final stages now and it's looking good to meet the revised 13th December deadline for the Beta version. Image count currently stands at 5500 (up over 1200 from 0.5.3) with a few hundred more left to make over the next couple of weeks, so it's going to be a big update.

One piece of feedback I received about Debbie's content back in version 0.4 was that she went from the naughtiest girl in the school to your loyal Prefect much too quickly. Well, I took that feedback on board for Rachel and her storyline moves a lot slower with a lot more scenes and a more gradual corruption. We will be able to level Rachel up to level 7 this update with some very nice rewards towards the end. Also, whilst Rachel is definitely the star of the show her storyline features nudity from a lot of girls so hopefully it has something for everyone. We are also going to slightly expand on Debbie's punishment system in Version 0.6. She will also now go up to level 6 with a new reward scene. 

Although I was away from my computer all last week I still managed to get about 10,000 words of dialogue written on my phone and I also had plenty of time sitting on planes and in cars thinking about my strategy for the next few months. One thing I had time to reflect on was how much I struggled writing parts of Rachel's storyline for version 0.6. The reason for this was that Rachel is available for punishment from the very beginning of the game and so for new players they will be playing through the start of her punishment system without having seen some of her later events (making her take her top off in sports class and then in your office for example). Whereas old players would already know quite a bit about Rachel and might expect her to react differently towards the headmaster. I had to find a way to make her story coherent for both new players and old ones and it wasn't easy. In the end I decided to give people the option to reset all of Rachel's content at the beginning of the update, however, this feels like kind of a messy fix and I would prefer not to do that again in the future. This issue could potentially become more and more of a problem with the other girls as the game progresses and more rules and actions are available to old players that new players won't have.

My takeaway from all of this is that as new girls become available to be punished they won’t be available from the beginning of the game. I will need to create a series of checkpoints. The first of which will happen when you unlock the ability to punish the girls yourself. Once you've reached one of these checkpoints a new set of girls will become available for punishment as well as a whole new set of class events, patrol events, sports events, new rules etc. A new 'chapter' of the game, if you will. That way I will have a relatively clean slate for creating those girls' storylines.

Before I can do this though I need to wrap up the early part of the game (everything up to the point where we can punish the girls ourselves, which I shall henceforth refer to as Chapter 1) by filling in all the missing pieces. This means my priority for version 0.7 needs to be completing the punishment system for both of the other two girls that are available from the beginning (Amy and Cassandra) before completing Chapter 1 and moving on with the main story and a new batch of girls to punish.

My overarching strategy for the next few updates will therefore be as follows:

  • The upcoming version 0.6 will see the implementation of the punishment system for Rachel and an expansion of the punishment system for Debbie. We will also be able to unlock the ability to punish the girls ourselves and we will see a major new scene where we publicly demonstrate our disciplinary methods to the girls in a special assembly. This will mark the start of a new 'chapter' in the game. However, progress in the main storyline will pause there for now. 
  • Version 0.7 will be all about filling in all the missing pieces from Chapter 1. Most notably by implementing the punishment system for Amy and Cassandra
  • Then in version 0.8 we will begin Chapter 2. We will have a new main quest and a whole new set of girls will become available to punish in your office and around the school. Including a couple of the entirely new characters I held a poll over a little while back. 

I hope that all makes sense to everyone and gives you a good idea of what to expect over the next few updates. Please feel free to ask me questions either here or on the discord. In terms of timescales for versions 0.7 and 0.8 I couldn't say just yet. Now that I've created the punishment system for both Debbie and Rachel I feel like I should be able to start producing it much more quickly for subsequent girls. Also, in some pretty major news, from late December my partner Herdone will be going part time at her day job in order to assist me with the game. This should increase production speed and also give me much more time for Patreon rewards, polls etc which I've really struggled to find the time for over the last couple of months.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say how much I really appreciate all of you guys for your support and for your patience. As they say, good things come to those that wait and the long wait for version 0.6 is nearly over.

to be fair, Debbie's change was helped massively by her secret crush being there almost every step of the way. also, thanks for the update - take your time, team; and and thank you all for everything!

i first saw your game an it did not interest me as i did not think it would go far. but i am very glad i took a chance and tried the game. u have done very well. and u deserve alot of praise for all the work done. and i thought about if u were gonna make chapters as it would make sense an u have said just wat i was thinking. lol i can't wait to see the update, should be very enjoyable 2 thumbs up

I hope you do not have to mess too much with the code just to include those fixes for old/new player compatibility. I'd even rather have to start a fresh new game every release than to have the game struggle in final development because it has a hacky code base ;)

It's not really the code I have to mess around with, it's just lots of extra dialogue options to keep all the storylines consistent.
