I have this weird thing where I both love and hate planning, hehe! :D

I love it because I get to decide everything that's coming up and get hyped about the scenes I'm going to get to write (some of them I've been waiting over a decade to turn from notes into actual scenes, so I am intensely excited about that!).

On the other hand...because there's so much I wanna write I just want to be writing it now, lol!

But I definitely learned from Book Three that I can't rush the planning stage. Especially not with how varied the branches are becoming and wanting to get those stories weaving around each other. The more work I put into planning now, the smoother writing will go!

Writing definitely is always a learning experience! :D

I'm focusing on the overall story at the moment. I tend to find it easier to look at the story as a whole and break it down into the basics: beginning, middle, end. Just the story for Book Four. Once I've got that down, then I can start seeing how the other branches will work within it.

Book Four is a big one for me as it's not just the ball we've all been waiting for, but the antagonist has...motivations that are different.

They are still after the MC drawn in by their blood, as all the villains generally are, but it's for a different reason...which makes it all the more interesting in how that plays out with the vampires and especially the love interest!

Plus they're the first antagonist that is a supernatural made up specifically for Wayhaven and not based on an existing legend! (And in true Wayhaven tradition, I am of course a little bit in love with them already, hehe!)

Next week will be continuing on with big picture planning and getting the beats for that solidly set.

Hope you all have the most amazing weekend! I'll talk to you all on Monday<3

>_> <_< Is this going to be another character we WISH we could romance? *hides poster of Falk*

My last playthrough of b2 had me twirling my hair with the Falk scenes!

Villain with motivation other than blood 👀 thinking about that last scene + the clues from b2 👀 👀 Excited!

I am very hype hehe

Gosh, I hope the villian (please let us choose the gender 🤞🏻) is so in love with my MC and openly shows their attraction and it makes the LI soooo jealous. Like complete, monster rage, the "I'm going to rip their limbs from their body if they touch her!" kind of rage and not even be sorry about it. Let this book be a steamy mess of hormones 😉🤫

On another note, I love hearing about the writing process and do have some questions. When you are making your outline, how do you do it? Are you a list maker, graph creator, sticky note user etc? I've seen some writers cover their whole bedroom wall with sticky notes on plots and things so I was just curious on your style. I'm a Discovery Writer, or Pantser some would say, so I find it intriguing seeing other people's plotting process. 😊

Seconded! (and thirded)...one of my (very minor) disappointments with book 2 was that I wish lady detectives that Falk was clearly interested in would've gotten more reaction from the LI (especially since it's blatantly obvious if he agrees to sign the treaty and work with the Agency that it's because of the Detective), XD

"Do you plan to harm her?" Adam growls through clenched jaws and sharp teeth. "Harm her?" The man's lips tilt up into bare whisper of a smile. "Oh no dear Vampyr...I plan to fuck her." ..... I need this in my life. 😅

Hmmm….. I’m concerned this villain is going to go “their blood is too dangerous to exist” and want to kill the Detective (or the Agent, I suppose) 😬 Very excited for the ball tho!

a different reason 👀👀👀

I'd like to give a different "perspective" on ideas raised by the others. I deal with physical issues daily and the world itself is chaotic so I enjoy a getaway to Wayhaven that is calmer than Real Life. No offense to others but I wouldn't enjoy most of the ideas they would like to see.

EvilChani

I would 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 this. I've been hoping we'd see someone who just wants to flat out murder the MC because of the danger they present to the world. That'd be fun!

Aetheries

Same, my life has made it so I cannot view such things as an abstract concept to derive entertainment from. While I am not overtly opposed, it should never be the main focus of a plot nor do I feel that the negative should be the only thing that elicits emotion and if it is, some time should be taken to seriously unpack why.

Skippy Hugo

Most have wanted to use the blood (for themselves or to sell). So I'm guessing a future antagonist would want to kill because of that. I honestly think the best villiain would be one that used to be a part of the Agency and points out certain "drawbacks".

Chellie

lol in the comments of ppl wanting to romance villains. i see you. i get you.

Well, it is Adam. He can't go through with it so he'd be happy if the MC found someone else who could take care of them in...that department. Just look at how nonchalant he was about Bobby kissing the detective.

I cant wait to see the behind-the-scenes processes! Do you write the story regularly, like a normal novel, then go back through and write in ChoiceScript Code or do you try to code and write as you go?

Silver_0ver_Gold

Imagine the Detective/Agent falling in love with the antagonist while following the A romance storyline, my heart aches for A, but aches more for the Detective/Agent, who just wants A to accept they have feelings for each other! AAAHHHHHH!!!
