The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update+ 29/Oct/2021 (Patreon)

Although editing for Chapter 8 was my focus this week, I did manage to get some more of Chapter 9 done, and even finished a scene! It's a 'common' scene (the scene after the two different versions of Chapter 9 that draw it back together before branching again for the endings).

I'm not 100% happy with it so far. It definitely needs a rewrite, as it doesn't quite have the impact I'm looking for yet, but it's much easier to work from a base when than having nothing!

But I had the editing and playtesting to keep from getting too over-focused on that!

I don't know if you guys remember, but a while, while back I was talking about possibly taking out a scene from Chapter 8 in each of the LI's scenes. Well, I decided to do that in the end. It definitely needs to come at a later stage. 

I didn't delete the scenes (gives me heart palpitations just thinking about getting rid of them, lol!), but they'll work better in a later chapter, probably Chapter 13. But I have already edited it, so that will be nice to just slip in when it fits!

So once I got brave enough to actually do that, Chapter 8 really has a better flow to it. Sometimes it's just gotta be done…as much as I put off doing it, hehe! :D

Next week, I can go back flip-flopping between the writing and editing with probably more focus on writing as I want to keep to schedule, as well as keeping up with edits for Chap 7 from SpunkyCat.

One of the favourite comments I've received from her so far is:

'Note: I just LOVE the whole atmosphere you’ve set up here. I know I often point out sentences here and there that really get me, but then I’d be copying this whole opening scene. And that would be just too much. Well done!'

Social media days are also next week! I've been SO eager to write Adam/Ava's Unseen Scene for Patreon where they receive the carnival photo and some…enigmatic and melodramatic advice from Sanja, hehe! As well as getting to draw up Mason/Morgan's bedroom layout!

Also, I know some people have been wondering how Milo is doing! He's got a way to go health-wise, unsurprisingly, but the vet is pleased with how he's coming on!

In himself, he's amazing! He's becoming much more kitten-like (vet thinks he's about 7 months) with his playing and relaxing in the home! He's put on a really good amount of weight. He even gets up onto the furniture now for a little snooze, which he wouldn't go near when he first started coming in.

For Update+ this week, a small look into the differences of how the MC interacts with others is beginning to affect those around them.

He bobs his head in the direction behind me while slumping against the nearby post. "I wasn't expecting this big of a crowd. I bet most of them aren't even here to donate."

He swivels his head to take in the crowd around us and, when he stands tall this time, he looks surprisingly professional. "This is quite the crowd to manage. Though I'm not sure how many are actually here to donate."

He tip toes a little to lean and see past me, arching his brows, before tipping back onto his feet. "I wasn't expecting so many people to turn up." He beams a smile. "It's nice to think so many people are donating."

The stat to toughen up Douglas is actually a hidden stat, so it'll be interesting to see Douglas' development, especially with the stuff happening in Book Three....
