Half in the Bag: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Indiana...let it go. We had a lot of dumb technical issues when filming this episode. One of our stupid mics stopped working 2 minutes into our discussion but we didn't discover that until after talking about the stupid Indiana Jones movie for 45 minutes so then we had to start the stupid discussion all over again. And for some reason on the second time we shot it, Rich Evans' microphone made him sound extra echo-y because Rich Evans is a sound anomaly. But you can still understand everything we say as we painstakingly go through this boring movie. So just relax and have fun, everybody. Relax and have fun!!! And Happy Birthday, Grimace!

You owe us a different assessment of this movie. We waited 15 years for this HITB. Jay needs to talk about the things I want. When can we expect it?

Great stuff fellas. I am kind of curious about your thoughts on so many bombs this summer, something akin to your box office numbers video. It'd just be interesting hearing RLM's post mortem on why audiences are so "over" a lot of movies this summer.

Id like to recommend everyone check out this fan film. Made over 20 years ago, it's RLM style nonsense and still understands the franchise better than Mangold. It also features the spear of longinus which made me laugh really hard in DOD https://youtu.be/AFMkxOE_SMc

Also more entertaining than the new Indiana Jones movie: Harrison Ford's appearence on Conan O'Brien's podcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RGl8UQdq9I

Have y’all watched Andor?

Probably an old hat, but I'm a couple of decades behind the Twin Peaks discussion anyway: so I watched Marilyn Monroe interviews and in one she says that she's generally miserable. And that reminded me how David Lynch described Laura Palmer: "Radiant on the surface but dying inside." And sure enough the internet says that David Lynch and Mark Frost were inspired by Marilyn Monroe when they created Laura Palmer. This is what I love: finding those links and discovering more about those persons/characters. And since I rewatched Space Cop with only the soundtrack on (which I highly recommend, the sound design is fantastic, reminds me in parts of the subtle sound design in David Lynch movies), I discovered that Marilyn Monroe made it into Space Cop. Now I'm happy. ;-D

The last two Indiana Jones movies are too "shiny". Something about not being shot on film takes away from the feel of the movie. It is like shooting a western on digital film; it makes the era/scenes look too clean and sanitized.
