Half in the Bag: 2022 Mid-Year Catch-Up Part 2 (Movies)

It's now officially June and the start of Summer! The first half of this year was a pile of crap but Jay and Mike did watch a bunch of movies that they cared so little about they nearly forgot all of them! The magic of the silver screen is back, baby! Mike orders a can of beer from the future! Jay rambles on about the new Robert Egger's Egg. And the posters on the thumbnail DO NOT represent the order in which the movies were talked about. That would have made sense, right? I should have done that from the start. But now that it's made, I'm too lazy to go and fix it because it's a nice day out and I'm going to the beach to swim in my new clown themed unitard. (00:00:00) Intro (00:02:22) All My Friends Hate Me (00:06:59) Windfall (00:12:53) Jackass Forever (00:17:50) Ultrasound (00:23:38) King Knight (00:30:16) Fresh (00:39:58) The Northman (00:58:58) The Northman/Gladiator Comparison (Spoilers) (01:01:27) Outro

I've had Ultrasound, Fresh, and King Knight on my watchlist for a while now. So..... can someone tell me if these are spoilery reviews, i. e. do I have to watch the movies first?

I fell for the subverted expectations moment at first, but I realized mid-pause that the pause is there to let the viewer think of the guy in Twin Peaks, perhaps even let the viewer say the guy's name out loud. Also, Jay said that he looked the guy up on IMDb and there is no way that Jay would have missed that piece of information. So, the edit seems to be deliberate. That's really good editing.

Kinda disappointed not to hear them talk about Ti West's X. Lots of interesting talking points ie. Mike and his relationship with the elderly, Jay's love of weird sex pervert shit, and the fact Ti West convinced the studio to shoot a prequel as well while making X. Eh. Maybe at the end of year catch-up?

I went into "The Northman" completely cold aside from knowing the director, and only figured out that it was the source legend of Shakespeare's Hamlet when the main guy's name "Amleth" sounded a lot like "Hamlet" in some dialogue. The movie's style has an artistic authenticity to it, which really appeals to my tastes, so it's my favorite movie this year so far.

Also the sheer fact that Ti West is still allowed to make movies after all those people in the audience died of boredom during "The Roost", "Cabin Fever 2" and "House of the Devil"... :/

Hi! I enjoyed this review a lot! I was wondering if it would be possible in the future to put a note about strobing lights in the description or in the beginning of the video. I hadn't heard of Ultrasound prior to this review and I didn't know that the title had massive strobe lights. Those kinds of flashing lights trigger seizures for me and for a lot of other people and if there is a note ahead of time we can just skip those scenes. Usually the trailers aren't that bad when it comes to that kind of effect, but Ultrasound was really intense. No worries though if you can't add it. I hope you all have a great start to your summer!

As soon as I saw that trailer I thought 'I wonder how many people will seize' lol. I know creators go overboard with the trigger warnings on youtube and it can get annoying, but seizure warnings are actually pretty useful.

I hope the next video is a movie re:View. It's been a while since the last movie one.

Does the TNG VHS from the future mean that Mike and Rich will do another re:View of ten more episodes? They can do the entire series. I’ll watch.

"Everything Everywhere All At Once" is my The Batman. Aint gonna get 100k likes though. But what a movie! Wow! Also really liked Licorice Pizza, but that one feels like even less people would care about or like. :D

No kidding. That movie is the best thing I have seen this year and last. How this was not talked about in recap is beyond me.
