Half in the Bag: Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Dark Phoenix

It's that time of year again! Time for tentpole franchises to release their latest entries that will get terrible reviews and immediately flop! Movies are magical!

Omg it's like an RLM Bukake this month

Poor Harloff, right off the top they start going at him, LOL! Oh well, he deserves the mockery.

The boys are blessing us this week with all this new content

Mike’s drinking Elysian Space Dust! RESPECT! That’s a quality IPA!

Rick Drake

The hardest working men in show business right here.

Been looking forward to this all weekend!

I love the Collider joke in this one....but we should’ve gotten a Nerd Crew.

Mike St Louis

On a more technical note, the voices are unusually low. I’m finding it hard to make out some things being said.

this is the best series on youtube

Loved another reference to the Collider guy and the Star Wars amusement park at Disney. The funniest thing about all of this is that the girl from Collider that they actually sent doesn't ever really review SW content, and throughout both of her reviews of Galaxy's Edge she repeatedly called the most iconic ship in all of cinema the "MillineUN FalcOM." And they clearly did editing afterward, adding in Disney-supplied clips, but somehow that got through about 6 times. She never once got it right. Guy must have been furious.

Rampage was a better movie than Godzilla II.

Taylor Hensley

Happy to see Shin Godzilla getting some love.

My favorite X-Men is Aberdine Schmeckledorf Bumbledorf because he can shoot AIDS from his armpits.

Nice catch with the prequel movie!

TL;DW. I heard on the news this morning that Dark Phoenix is the lowest weekend grossing film in the series. I'm not expecting a positive review from Mike and Jay. Is this another example of how Jennifer Lawrence lucked out on Winters Bone and Hunger Games but not good in anything else?

Steve

What's the deal with the red stain am Jay's shirt?

Also noticing the mic volumes. But as always, thanks for watching these so we don’t have to!

Yeah, what's up? Are they trying to get to a million subscribers as fast as possible? Never seen them upload so many videos in a week before.

Anyone else think mike's intro to dark phoenix sounded a lot like Mr plinkett, he's transformation is almost complete

I'm going to continue calling my shot. Next HitB will be for Child's Play in two weeks.

Rigmarole

While skimming I read that as Godzilla: Bag of Monsters, which I feel also applies

Great point about heading into a post-franchise age. No-one gives any shits any more about Star Wars, Harry Potter, Avatar, James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean etc. Studios are going to have to come up with some new ideas.

Mike just grow a beard you fuck. We all want to see you with a beard

Dear Jay Bauman, [I also posted this formal letter in the YouTube comments, and then remembered that I give you fucks money every month, so why should I feel the need to slum it among all those plebeians?] In any case, you will never read this, but -- if you enjoyed "Shin Godzilla," then I highly, vehemently recommend that you watch a television program from 1995 called "Neon Genesis Evangelion," as they were both made by the same genius autistic man: Hideaki Anno. In fact, I assure you that this show will be even more up your alley, as it was created while Anno was excruciatingly depressed, and has therefore been filled with all your favorite thematic elements: extreme violence, cryptic plotting, existential dread, and the misery of children! But the best part? It's being released on Netflix in almost exactly a week, on June 21! I promise I'm not a shill. I just love sharing in this despair, and as soon as possible, I want to see that despair reflected in your eyes too. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, me

Not sure he actually reads this, but you have inspired me to rewatch that series. What a bizarre piece of art.
