So, full context: Merlin in my canon is an antiquated title, it basically translates to "Royal Court's Magician", which meant Merlin had to be the best of the best, because they were meant to be the king's chancellor, tutor, etc., except there hasn't been need of a Merlin since parliament was established, so the idea of this kid with dreams and aspirations of making Merlin is like on the same level as...I dunno, wanting to be the Pirate King, or wanting to be the next Napoleon, it's grand and romantic, but in no way realistic, but every kid needs a dream to chase, right? He'll sort out what he really wants in life some day.

Other context: "30 years a virgin to become a wizard" isn't literal in my canon, it's just a joking saying on par with "While you were out having unprotected sex, I was studying the blade."

You can get laid and still become a wizard, it'll just take you longer than someone who spends 30 years dedicated to the grind. XD
