Hey everyone, so some good news first. Thankfully my living situation has begun to stabilize which is a huge relief. So with any luck I’ll get my work back on track in a couple weeks and will start posting 2 days a week again!

Anyway I thought I would just talk about what I’m working on at the moment. I’m currently converting my old animations/sequences and events into the new systems. This is a bit of a tricky system for a couple interesting reasons. Many of these elements were created from much older versions of my code base, especially from previous demos.

I need to convert many of these to work with the upgrades to the character controller. This has been a list of bizarre bugs, most frequently little 180 spins as the system can’t work out which direction the character is supposed to be facing.

The older “actions” have very little customisation with single properties for things such as number of loops. Rather than try and re-create new actions I created a converter to take older actions and turn them into events that work with the new dialogue/sequences. You can see in the above example I’m trying to set up the new systems so that they can occur anywhere in the world using the new interaction locations.

Honestly most of this is just the result of experience. You can cut a line down the centre of the project and see a progressive improvement in project management and just code quality. That’s all for now. Over the next couple weeks I’m going to get back up to speed.
