that happened just now.

Today we came to a user whose name is 1: 1 to coincide with one of VIP sponsors. He said that the account VIP Sponsor - belongs to him and receives donations from his account. At the same time he can not control this process, as in his account contains different amount of donations.

First, we assumed that this "social engineering" - someone attempts of the thieves access to materials for one of our sponsors.

But it was less prosaic. This story is so wonderful that it deserves inclusion in the ACF as an illustration of possible errors.

After a long study of logs and correspondence, we conducted an investigation and found excellent. Our sponsor has created an account for a long time. But in the process of creation - have the wrong e-mail. A Patreon not verify the authenticity and correctness of its email. As a result, the sponsor made a mistake and missed one letter in an email. As a consequence - could not log into your account to receive content. Moreover - to cancel the donation from the account he too could not.

Having decided that, for whatever reason, an account has been created, the sponsor has created another account, but with a lower level of access.

And only a few months later he remarked that makes the "phantom contributions".

Lost account regularly sent money to Patreon, but you did not see and did not receive the content updates available to this account.

We sent them as usual, but because of incorrectly specified e-mail, the user has not received any notification about this. None of Patreon or from our update server.

After studying the problem, we find together solution.

However, without treatment of sponsor - we could not assume such a strange

combination of circumstances and could not find the problem yourself.
