FAQ - Membership and Benefits (Patreon)

This post serves as a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on membership and benefits that I can direct people with questions to. Feel free to ask or comment on anything reward related, but please avoid off-topic talk in this post.

I'm subscribed but I'm not receiving any content. Why?

This is usually because your subscription for the current month may not have been processed yet. Possibly a problem with your payment option. Patreon should be sending you email notices if that is the case though. Check your payment settings.

Which brings us to the other possibility. You're not receiving email notifications of new content and/or reading your messages on Patreon. Important notifications (like alerts on new messages) are sent by email, and most of the exclusive content is shared by messages on Patreon, so make sure you are checking the email account you are using for new notifications, or at least check your message inbox on Patreon regularly.

Where do I find exclusive content?

Exclusive art is distributed in two places, in my Discord server, and via Patreon's messaging system. Discord is NOT mandatory to access all rewards however, as you will also receive a compilation of all exclusive content from a month, at the end of the month, as a message on Patreon, as long as your subscription for that month has been processed. But on Discord you can access many of the artworks as soon as they're ready for sharing. Sometimes there may be a day or two early access as well.

Below is a list of exclusive content types and their delivery methods.

¤ Exclusive basic variants (dialogue, etc)
Shared on Discord, and via a message on Patreon.

¤  Exclusive doodles, sketches, previews and variants
Shared primarily on Discord. Compilations are sent as a message on Patreon, once or twice a month.

¤ Exclusive colored works and special variants
Shared via a message on Patreon. Sometimes on Discord as well.

¤ High-resolution versions
Shared via a message on Patreon.

How do I access the Legacy Archive?

Legacy Archive is a benefit you will be eligible for once your lifetime total processed subscriptions reaches $30. Sometime soon after that (usually within a week or two) you will receive a message on Patreon with links to the Legacy Archive content. Please note that keeping track of who has received the Legacy Archive and who hasn't can get a bit confusing at times for me, so there's a very small chance I might miss on sending it out. Don't hesitate to contact me if you think that might be the case.

How do I get Discord benefits? 

First, you need to have a Discord account, and have access to my Discord server. (If you don't have those yet, check the next article further below.)

The most common Discord reward is a role, which is basically a colored user name in my Discord server. Your user name is also listed together with others of same role, in the server's user list. Your role also determines which channels you can access. Some channels may be accessible only to patrons of certain tiers. You will receive a role automatically, based on your subscription tier. For higher tier subscriptions I also offer custom roles. Simply contact me if you wish to have one set for you.

Exclusive artworks on my Discord server can be found in channels beginning with the word 'exclusive'. For example #exclusive and #exclusive-all_tiers .

How to access/use Discord?

Discord is a popular, widely used, free voice and text chat application. All you shy people, don't be alarmed by the word 'voice', as my Discord server doesn't have any voice channels. It's purely text and picture chat.

Discord can be used in web browser, or you can download an app for your PC or mobile. On PC, simply go to https://discord.gg , click to download the app or to open Discord in your browser and follow the instructions to create and claim an account.

After this, login to your Patreon account on Patreon. Click your user icon at the top right, and select 'My Profile Settings'. Select 'Apps', and you should see a 'Connect' button next to a Discord logo. Click that button, enter your Discord login details in the window that opens up, and click 'login'. Done! 

Now when you login to your Discord account on the app or in browser, my server should be listed on the left. At the time of typing this, the server has Harmony (the mascot) as an icon. Click the server icon, and a chat view should open. On the left side are channels, middle is the chat area, and on the right are users, both online and offline. To switch channel, just click on the channel name. The channel names begin with a hashtag (eg. #news )

I read somewhere that just $1 gets you everything. Is that true?

Sorry, that is old information from the time before I started doing art for a living. Back then I put less value on my art and basically let everything go for mere $1, but that is not sustainable pricing when art is supposed to put food on the table. Now, a single month's subscription gets you content from one month, and the amount of content depends on your subscription tier.

I missed out on some exclusive content. :( Can I still get them somehow?

If you want content from a month that you didn't subscribe for, or your subscription didn't go through for, you can buy the content separately in my Gumroad store: https://gumroad.com/harmonist11 

If you missed out on content from a month that you had a subscription processed for (this means that money actually got transferred successfully, and you received an email receipt from Patreon), first check your message inbox (second button at the top right) and look for a message beginning with a title like 'JULY 2019 REWARD COMPILATION'. These compilations are sent at the end of a month and contain links to all the content you have been eligible for during that month. If you can't find such a message, contact me on Patreon or Discord and I'll look into it. 

What's the best way to stay updated on new content?!

To not miss out on anything, check for email notifications as often as possible and join my Discord server (Instructions can be found above in this FAQ).

If you want to be informed of new stuff as soon as possible, do the following:

1. Join my Discord server. Right click on my server -> Notification Settings. Go to Notification Overrides, select #news, and click the checkbox under 'ALL'. Click 'Done'. You should now receive email notifications whenever I post news about new art or other important things.

2. Use an email account/app that alerts you of new email. Whenever I post a public artwork, share an exclusive colored work or dialog variant, or send a monthly art compilation, you'll receive an email notification of it. 

3. Check your Patreon messages daily. Especially if you don't keep track of email notifications.

Can I support you anywhere other than Patreon?
