I see that you guys are watching the anime release instead of the blu ray because in the blu ray, Ilya asked Saber if she ever heard of the name Einzbern and other stuff related to Zero plus you can hear some parts of Archer’s NP when he shot that “arrow” and he also said the name of it. Here are just something that was cut off from the release one which can help y’all. And yeah, just like what other says, Berserker’s name wasn’t revealed here but in the movie of another route of the story, Heaven’s Feel

Sakura and Rin being sisters, Sakura knowing literally anything about mages, Gilgamesh surviving, literally everything about Zouken and even the fact that he exists. These are all "oh shit" moments when you read the original first. Even basic shit like Saber's identity isn't revealed until pretty late into FSN, compared to F/Z where they just say it outright...because they assume you already know everything from the original. Edit: Actually thought of some more as well. Illya being related to Kiritsugu, the nature of the grail being cursed, Kiritsugu having Avalon, Kiritsugu and Kirei having history and really Kirei's true nature in general.

Both series spoil each other, this is because originally fate zero (the original novel) was made after fate/stay night became a thing. It’s very much like the Star Wars prequels and how they’re purpose is to further expand what the originals already implemented. In that sense fate/zero is supposed to be experienced after you read the originals however Ufotable adapted fate/zero first and tried to make it a direct prequel to UBW. So unfortunately no matter which you go with first, anime wise ur going to be spoiled on some aspects but ufotable clearly expects you to have watched fate zero before unlimited blade works.

Yeah, like the scene where Kirei is talking to Gilgamesh in the church is 100% anime original, to tie things back into Fate/Zero (so is the scene where Illya is using Irisviel's bird construct magic to fight off Rin). They don't even try to pretend it's a plot twist that Kirei's up to no good. The Blu-ray version of this episode also had an extra scene where Illya suspects Saber is the same one her mother fought alongside and asks if she knows anything about Einsberg family

They did kind of explain how Gilgamesh incarnated as a living being and how Kirei survived being consumed by the Grail. Gilgamesh basically said that “perhaps being engulfed by the Grail has somehow magic’ed them”. Not a quote, but that’s all the explanation I remember.

Zero is not canon. Watching Zero is what is fucking them up and confusing them about stuff in the main series. The main Series was written long before Zero was a thing so there's not a 100% lineup. The way you're suppose to take Zero is its a semi accurate retelling of the previous war but its considered its own timeline.

Zero i canon, what u talkin about?! Its a series that is a completely tied in prequel for all the Light Novel routes, so idk what ur about REIGN! Star wars prequels also came out after and tied into the story perfectly later, but you cant say theyre not canon or some shit LOL :D

Zero has many inconsistencies with the original and was written by a different person. It's only "canon" because Fate has parallel worlds and shit. It doesn't actually line up with the story stated in the original. In FSN, it's stated that Kiritsugu summoned Saber in the shed, not at the castle. Irisviel was left behind at the castle with Illya and never came to Japan. Zero has closer connections with FHA, which was written after FSN, but HA has never had an anime so apparently nobody knows that lol. Also FSN wasn't a light novel but a visual novel, not the same thing.

I just finished UBW today.... what an ending. Obviously won't be saying details here, but I enjoyed the fuck out of that. Gonna let it all sink in a bit before I watch Heaven's Feel, got some catching up to do on reactions and stuff XD. But seeing what ufotable does with a movie budget in Mugen Train, I'm super hyped.

Lol y'all make it way more complicated than it needs to be. Fate/Zero is an anime that aired at one time, and UBW is an anime that clearly is a follow up that aired after it. End of story lol. That's all it is to me. The progression is there from an anime only standpoint, no need to get all chaotic about it. Don't really give any flying fucks about the "original" this and that, novel this and that, blah blah blah. Also, imo only these guys get confused. I wasn't confused at all.

this bersercker is a whole beast, and don't sleep on archer 😏, he my fav but unbiasly he is really strong and versatile. He can fight and keep up with opponents much stronger than him due to his combat ability and how versatile he is, anyways yall will find out more about him anyways

just to be clear, onii-chan/nee-chan/etc can be used to refer to a stranger who is relatively older (but typically not yet an adult). Yes, it literally means older brother, but it doesn't have to be. Illya here is not revealing the fact that she and Shirou are half siblings even though they technically are. It's similar to how Ononoki Yotsugi calls Araragi oni no onii-chan in monogatari series. I'm bringing this up because you will see this kinda thing pretty often in anime series and shouldn't confuse it as a confirmation of blood ties.
