5 years of doing these silly doodles is quite a milestone, and to think with the trajectory twitter has been going lately, this practice might outlive it! Sure, this past year I probably didn't do as many sketches as previous years, but I still did quite a few dammit! So for 5 years now, I've been drawing something commemorating the occasion! So here I am again, scanning in this wonderful celebration of the year, and giving my two cents on each part. (I apparently forgot to do the scanning part last year, so the last one posted on her was for year three, if anyone would want to see me scan in year four, let me know)

So going from left to right, let's start off with Sena!

Since I don't sketch as often as I used to, where I'd usually just go through the rainbow of colors one by one, nowadays I tend to just pick the color that would fit the sketch I currently have in mind. So some colors have less to choose from. Another thing to note when doing these celebration sketches I try to follow some guidelines I set for myself; Try not to have multiple characters from one series, and to have the center sketch of Mio Akiyama be on a different color compared to last year. So I was in a catch 22; I could go with my Sena muscle sequence, which she comes from the same game as Mio, Xenoblade 3 (which I had already locked in to my orange slot), or I could go with Mio Akiyama, which in the previous year I had drawn her on a blue card (It's almost like I see Mio's color is blue, fancy that...) I ended up going with Sena (will go into more detail when we get to the Red Mio card later). that sequence isn't over yet, but hopefully this next year I have a more diverse pool of blue sketches to choose from. lol

Next up is Yunaka!

Hiya Papaya, it's Yunaka! It wouldn't be right to not have a girl from a Fire Emblem game show up on here. In fact outside of the first year, there's been a FE gal in all of these celebration posts. Yunaka is probably my second favorite character from Engage (favorite is probably Timerra) Having the contenders for the purple and pink slots for this year being huge booty focused (the other one I had in mind for purple was A from Xenoblade 3 (yes that's another one from Xenoblade, hence why I decided against them.)) It just seemed like a natural thing to have them clap cheeks together. Yunaka's noncombat outfit is 100% old granny coded, and I love it. lol

Peach is up next!

Every year I try and make sure one of the cards is represented by the character that had the most likes and retweets that past year. Unsurprisingly, Peach and her peaches (photo was taken in front of a bunch of apples instead. lol) I've drawn Peach with a fat ass in the past, but considering this was made because of the proximity of the new Mario Movie, so it makes sense that it was popular. Definitely not on the same kind of scale as my old Komi or Rosalina sketches, but in the current state twitter is at, I don't think anything I do could hit those highs. C'est la vie!

Coming up is none other than the amazing Mio Akiyama herself!

Like how I said earlier in this post, I find blue to be more Mio's color, but my very first card sketch was of a muscly Mio on a red card, so I like to hearken back to it a lot of times, either remaking the sketch outright, or for these celebration sketches of Mio being a reference to it. Since this is the 5th anniversary, which is considered like the first big milestone when it comes to anniversaries (not counting the first annuals) it felt right to make this one another call back to the first card that started it all. Though this is actually more of a reference to a slightly older, kinda proto-card sketch of a Mio where she shows off her bumpy tummy that some might see as being familiar. though that was on pink not red, but whatever... and yes, that's a golden balloon from Diddy Kong Racing in the corner there.
Probably having her six pack having a painted six on it for the sixth anniversary would have made more sense now that I think about it... lol
Before I forget, I should mention that I really did want to have Suletta show up for this year, but I just couldn't bring myself to make Mio show up on a blue card twice in a row, like I mentioned earlier up above. So don't think I forgot about the tanuki!

Up next is... another Mio?!

Sure, there could have been a few others I could have picked for orange, but it just didn't seem right not to pick the Xenoblade cat girl and her journey to motherhood that I know a lot of you guys have been enjoying. Looking back over this year, a Xenoblade character was sketched on almost every colored card, except for pink and yellow. I guess I just had Xenoblade on my mind this year. lol
Back to the cat here, I opted to start out this series specifically to have her actually get impregnated the natural way most because in the past I usually either just ignored that part or just said went with something like "a ghost did it" or "science mumbo jumbo," so I just wanted to do something different. Canonically, she technically (what I mean by technically is a spoiler to the game's story so if you don't understand, just go play the game. lol) only gives birth to one child, me being how I am made her get a little bigger than just one baby in there. How many? I haven't really decided on that, I usually just go with whatever I feel like.
Side note, anyone wondering about my idea I had a few months ago about the Tits of Mios, I still plan to do it, will probably just start over though with a whole new sketch pad. I do wonder if my love of Xenoblade's Mio has anything to do with her shared name with Mio Akiyama... lol

Anyways, up next is Gold Ship!

Considering I had Peach on pink, it just wouldn't do to have Daisy over here (even with me forgoing my ban on no doubling on series characters, Daisy and Peach are practically palette swaps of each other, and that just super won't do. ...even if having two goombas with her would have been a funny). That said, I can't very well say Gold Ship shouldn't be here! Even outside of just this year, I've drawn her on numerous occasions, she's the perfect kind of character to use to make some social commentary with. The one this particular sketch is based on was made back when a wave of DMCA strikes were going around on Uma Musume fan art across twitter, and it hit one of my artist friends, so I decided to stick it to the man and draw some GolShi tiddies. They have yet to strike it down as of me writing this so I think I win. That said, I don't know Cygames would find it, since I didn't leave any searchable key words in my tweet, so perhaps I'm the real coward here... That said I did mention GolShi's name in the celebration sketch tweet of hers, so it would be funny if this one gets struck down instead of the one calling them out in the first place. lol
If you were wondering, Gold Ship here is asking pregnant Mio if she can spoon feed her some of her cake. lol

And last, but certainly not least, we have Palutena

Palutena is another I've sketched up a few times in the past, but I think she deserves to be highlighted for this years celebration. The sketch from this year that I'm referencing here was actually part of a redraw challenge from like early September where people would redraw one particular piece from Kid Icarus Uprising of Palutena seemingly explaining how to play the game with a 3DS in her hand. I would link to the original post that called for the redraw, but the person privated their twitter account a few minutes after I posted my sketch... As far as I can tell they did so entirely because of me, and I do feel a little bad about it, but come on, I had to draw it! It was fun!! Interesting to note, this was one of the few times I've ever drawn on a card where I orientated the card horizontally (the only other time I can think of was this little doodle).
For this sketch here, I made sure to give Pit his 3DS back, if anyone noticed him down there between Palutena and Gold Ship. lol

-------------------

And there you have it, a long winded look into some of my thoughts on the whole thing. It hardly feels like it's been five whole years since I started doing these, but it also feels like I've been doing them forever. I guess that's just what kind of happens when you get older. Like would it be possible to still be doing these another 5 years from now? It's weird to think about, but by the time I get there, it will probably feel like nothing. Anyways, thank you guys for supporting me, not just here, but on twitter and elsewhere too! You guys are the best!
