This guy Lakan is very sketchy. Obviously Jinshi won't let Maomao close to him (or I want to think that) or at least he will keep an eye on her all the time. At 20:50 it was very weird how Maomao reacted. It could be that she somehow knows something about Lakan? Maybe she heard some stories back at the Verdigris house? In any case the plot just got interesting 🤔

Now that I think about it. It scares me that Lakan basically confess everything to Jinshi like is nothing. Why he did that? If he is that smart, he should know that all this will make Jinshi wary. This guy is very dangerous.

The eunuchs are the ones that are allowed to go inside the rear palace. They are outside now so just normal officier. The only ones that go inside the rear palace are Jinshi and his assistant from this cast. Jinshi's reaction was hilarious throughout this episode. 🤣 I guess the military officer will be the main plot of this season. I had the same feeling as you that he’s no good but this episode was more of a segway to introduce him into the plot. After the episode. I see how the courtesan could be maomao moms as for her dad It’s too early for me to speculate. I’ll just let it run its course and the anime will show me eventually. Maybe I’m confused here but I don’t think he put the courtesan in a coma or anything. It’s a separate story from the seaweed. It was two different men that were put in a coma 10 years apart.
