Episode 16 [Creating a diversion] You are right. No need to create a division, just get enough numbers and the Bureau is fucked. But I guess Makishima is the only one with fight experience. Since it’s hard in this society to be violent without getting tagged by scan. Well the lackeys were pretty easily disposed of so I guess diversion is a good idea. When they said to capture Makishima alive I thought you were going to say recruit him but 😅 but even for you that would have been a hell of a prediction. But in a way, studying him is close to recruiting him. 😁 Yes, red flags hear splitting and getting the character with less screen time alone. 😨

[Tear down the sibil] Well you know my opinion of Sybil. But the government doesn't have any plan B or contingency plan or emergency plan. So if it’s tear down 😱 but at least if it’s tear down they can rebuild with lessons learned. That is the main problem with the system. They never question it and hide everything so they never tried to get it better.

I guess it could work with a hybrid system where they slack a bit on the requirement and you don’t get pre-judge. A system where they monitor everything and intervene only when there is imminent danger. Still a bit too much Big Brother Police State for me but better with more freedom. I guess now the best way to come back to a less strict system is to tear it down and rebuild from the ground up. For this to happen you need a catastrophe level of crisis so the people react.

Yes there is no perfect system. The problem with the Sybil is how closed it is and how they hide everything and try to keep control on everything. People don’t have a say.

Episode 17 Maybe it’s the guy that got locked away a few years ago. Yep I’ve been telling you. You are on another level when it comes to deducing what happens. Illusion pretending nothing wrong and looking the other way. Self denial. That when it goes wrong. You need check and balance. Yes they don’t have a justice system no Judge no trial no noting it’s all sybil dominator so Judging Makishima is a problem.

Ok collective brain. Now the guy is the one that has absolute power so it makes sense he wants to keep it and not destroy it. Makishima has more conviction than will to power so that is why he refuses. But it’s enticing. You are presented with a system where Sybil is the Defacto Absolute ruler and then you are offered a position where you become Sybil the absolute ruler. We clearly see that the guy currently in the chief is loving his new position of power.

After episode. So it’s human after all. They judge all the people who are potential criminals. They decide that the redhead guy is a potential criminal when he is a kid and decide to lock him in. Then you think, is it even true? Can they just decide this guy will be useful for us as an enforcer so let his psycho pass be high. Well they are basically a collective mind dictator. It might have started with good intentions but when you see that you have absolute power and nobody can go against your judgement you can decide everything like you want and pass it as truth.

Yes, impossible to be unbiased. How to choose the rules well no system is perfect. I guess democracy is the best we found yet. The people decide the rules but even here every system has compromise and a layer of separation on the theory and the reality. They said they take in any unusual brain. So this system is even more fuck up than I initially tought. So you take the brain of everyone that is marginal and not thinking like the rest of society then make them your rulers.

The way I understood the justification why they take in "criminally asymptomatic" individuals is a) because they lack empathy (that's something that both the Department Chief & Makishima have in common), so they seem to consider emotion just an unnecessary part of the equation & want people who aren't "burdened" with it b) because (if I understood the computer-talk correctly) the CAPACITY of the computers isn't the problem, but their UNDERSTANDING of humans, so they pick people with "unique viewpoints" to get more different angles on the assessment, like "can't judge your personality --> you add something new"

flaws of the system are covered pretty well here & in the review, just adding a few points: - with Makishima having enough "conviction" to not join I'm not sure; I more got the vibe that he simply ENJOYS being "down in the dirt" more than sitting on a throne high above - "guess democracy is the best we found yet"...to be honest, I think it's pretty hit-or-miss; you get a lot of "good" leaders, but then you see what kind of people get elected by the masses & what kinds of laws are passed rightnow; in another corner of the world a state-controlled country (China) starts to overtake western, democratic states & right-wing populism being on the rise again here in Europe (only a few generations after WW2 mind you)...you get the picture. With that - sure, Sybil System has obvious flaws & doesn't hold up to the best e.g. democracy has to offer, but I can't really judge how it compares to the worst results of democracy. Also, this being a dystopian world - the Chief mentioned to Makishima that their country (ruled by Sybil) is the only stable one in the world - of course they could be lying, but if not it would be interesting to see in what shape other countries are & if they might be even worse off than Japan by comparison. Not cheering for the Sybil System, it's definitely f'ed up, but I enjoy playing Devil's Advocate :P

@Radoras Every political system has deep flaw and can go really wrong. Democracy is far from perfect but at least it tries to represent the will of the people. Which in itself has problem. I think one of the my main problem with Sybil is they decide everything and the brain behind the decisions are all abnormal brain. So their society is base on the will of abnormal brain and the people has not choice. All those question that need to be tweak. What is a psycho-pass what are you actually measuring. And then you arbitrarily determine that at this level someone is a latent criminal. And we see that very few people recover and lower their psycho-pass. It seem to tell me that it's not measuring the good thing or if it is it's doesn't have the good threshold. Right now the collective mind seem to be on a god trip and everything is done in secrecy. Nobody can question the Sybil. And nobody is allowed a different opinions. I think the Sybil system can be better if it actually do what it's supposed to do. So catching actual criminal and and leaving alone eccentric people people with creative mind people with critical mind, that are not criminal alone. The thing is how do you judge what make a criminal and they show us that they don't really know because they are capturing the wrong people along side the criminal. I think right now it freeze creativity and critical thinking.
