...and that, children, is what's called a mexican stand-off XD Maybe I'm just to dumb, but I can't imagine any way even Light could smartass his way out of Rem's death threat Well Light seems more like he's never had a friend who he could see eye-to-eye with, who he actually enjoyed being around...maybe it's just shock in a "no way it's that easy"-style, maybe he feels like the challenge of beating L has been "stolen" from him with such an easy solution...or maybe he really started to like L and didn't know how he would feel about really killing him until now, because he wasn't even close to getting there yet. EDIT: just my idea on how Rem would figure out it was him; as far as I understand it, the person's lifespan Shinigami see is how long they would live without any Death Note user's interventions, so if she suddenly gets killed earlier than her remaining life span & the one who kills her dies immediately afterwards (because Death-Note use makes it necessary to involve the influenced person's death) there aren't many suspects, & Ryuk - as you said - doesn't give a sh*t

Yeah he seemed to actually enjoy L’s company or maybe just the game and now it feels like it’s over. They are super similar though so maybe it was a nice surprise and now he’s like “agh and now I like him but I still have to kill him.” 😅

Yo i have never seen this version of the anime with such horrible animations. but i have only ever watched the dub version. i think the version you are watching is one that was streamed in japan. so the cultural form was added.

Ryuk and Rem actually have their own death notes. The extra death notes they had were given to Light and Misa

And about why Light didn't have someone attack Misa: Rem said that if she sees Misa's lifespan was shortened, she will immediately assume it is Light's fault and kill him

Yes and as to the question wheter Rem would have the time to kill an attacker AND Light: I'd say Misa's lifespan would shorten the moment Light ordered someone to kill Misa and not just at the moment before the person actually attacks Misa. So Rem could for instance prepare an entry for Light and one for the attacker and just insert both names as soon as the attack actually happened and she'd be able to see the attackers face.
