38:55 you seem to be under the impression that Escanor's power can only go up to 50,000. That is...drastically, hilariously incorrect. Also, the imagery used for Escanor in this scene is epic, him hovering in the air holding the divine axe with the light of his power shining over everyone, it looks like a scene from a Michelangelo painting.

XD We wouldn't mind if you just view another one; could record it now and upload it later :P As far as I understood it Escanor loves Merlin simply because she was the only one who treated him normally when he was just a guy and at the same time took interest and wasn't afraid of him when seeing him at full power...must be tough bonding with people when they're either scared of you or just after the power you have...

When Escanor's powers first manifested it caused his people to reject him...for various reasons I'm sure. Rosa was a very pretty woman and even as young as he was at the time it would not have been unreasonable I think for little Escanor to have a little crush on her though I can't confirm that as I haven't finished the manga. Anyway, Rosa was the one person in his home kingdom who stuck by his side and didn't turn on him when everyone else did, including his family. She saved him and at the point of his first meeting Merlin he hadn't ever seen her again since that night she saved him. This prince had grown up and become a homeless, wandering, socially ostracized, man with no friends, family, or anyone who cared about him basically his whole life. The only person he had any fondness for was Rosa. So, when he first encountered Merlin, who has a basically identical appearance to Rosa except for the hair color, he momentarily thought she was her and was literally stunned speechless at the sight of her. Who could blame the guy for immediately being attracted to her. Then she goes and treats him like a normal man, not fearing him and calling him a freak or anything like that? Who could blame the guy for falling in love?
