Love this ep. You were 100% right about Tanya trying to scare them off with her training regimen. Oh and training shells are usually concrete in a metal casing instead of high explosives in a metal casing. Getting hit by one would still kill or maim unless they "shielded" the hit. As for smartest, I'd have to say Lelouche. Tanya is just super driven and callous and Ainz... has really good support NPCs, mostly. As for Dakia, it's like an army with tactics/equipment that were 50 years out of date.

Dakia is still stuck in the mindset of 2-dimensional warfare, where everything is fought on the ground. Having infantry form up into boxes and fire volleys was effective against charging cavalry. Not so good against air targets that can move in a 3-dimensional space. In 3-dimensional warfare, you can use air power to strike behind enemy lines. It's natural. Our air planes in WWI started out as scouts, then someone started dropping bombs on enemy lines, then opposing pilots started shooting each other with their pistols in the air, and finally machine guns and proper bombs were mounted on the planes. It still took WWII for us to realize the full potential of air power, when they were more effective at taking out battleships than using another ship. Same thing with tanks. When the land ships (tanks) were first introduced, generals laughed at them saying they were toys, until they started rolling over trenches and scared away the defenders.

Tanya would be the smartest overall. She is manipulative, intelligent, knows how to put up an act like princess Renner, and has the most experience as an accomplished adult. Ainz is only smart when it comes to game mechanics. He is a smart GAMER, plus some experience as a salesperson in his real life, that's it. Lelouch is a little inconsistent, maybe because his character is still developing. He failed to take the human element into account when resistance members in the Cornelia battle deserted him, but he can somehow predict what Mao would say. He has the other two beat in pure strategies. He's not as good as Tanya in dealing with human behavior. He was clueless about Shirley's feelings, which Tanya would've picked up right away.

Tanya was willing to risk getting some of the recruits killed, and write them off as accidents because live shells got mixed in with training shells and blame it on the artillery unit. Training shells can still kill you because they are like giant bullets, but mages can block them with shields. I think the computation jewels help them channel their manna. They can also channel their manna into bayonets or shovels to make them more effective. Dakia should know about mages, but doesn't realize how effective they can be in a war.

It is a popular fan theory that Ainz is actually far more intelligent than he seems and that he isn't even aware of it. The idea is that his characters high intelligence stats are affecting him just like all his other stats, statuses, resistances, and racial traits are. Think about it, he has the physical strength, endurance, stamina, ect, that his game character has. He wasn't anywhere near that strong and such as a flesh and blood human in his original world but those are very tangible and noticeable changes that he was easily aware of once arriving in the new world. More subtle changes took more time to set in, or at least for him to adjust to and accept. Things like emotional suppression, lack of sex drive, loss of empathy, lack of physical exhaustion and need for sleep, lack of needing to eat/drink or even being able to feel hungry/thirsty. All these things and more are changes brought about by him inhabiting a different body that had those characteristics. So, why should his characters high intelligence stat not also have an impact? Perhaps he's not really just bumbling into ridiculous success by accident like he often seems, maybe he's unconsciously thinking things through and making highly intelligent decisions without even being consciously aware of it, like instinctively making the best moves without really thinking about it. Maybe not, but I like to think so.

Disparity was probably the word you were searching for. There is a huge disparity in the technological, magical, and military competence of Dakia verses the Empire.

More interesting Informations/Details that they left out: !! Interesting small Facts about Tanyas new Battalion (which they never explained sadly very detailled): It consists of 48 active men with powerful Type 97 Elinium Orb that is capable to fly more than 8,000 Meter above sea level and match Tanya's firepower and mana efficiency. ( Even Tanya uses a Elenium Type97 know and uses her Type95 with the " God Curse" only if it is needed) However, due to their high level of skill and coordination in addition to their unusually powerful orbs, the unit is often mistaken for a regiment of over 100 mages, simply because the damage done by the unit is so severe. Elinium Type 97 ‘Mobile Assault’ Operation Orb: An Operation Orb with 2 cores developed by Professor Schugel, a product version of Tanya's Elenium Type 95 that couldn't be mass produced. The principle of this orb is the same as Elenium Type 95, but more stable and far inferior output. However, this Orb is still a generation ahead of existing Orbs used by other countries. It is a revolutionary model that was hard to handle for single-core users.

She does care about her subordinates and such as long as they prove themselves useful or follow a similar path as her. As for it being fucked, it is but she does also follow the rules set up

poor Tanya, just wanted to stall for time by scaring away anyone who applied...instead, they're to scared to leave now 🤣 One of Tanya's biggest weaknesses is that, while beeing highly intelligent and a good strategist, she isn't good at dealing with people that are different from her, meaning not as calculating... Like with the application process for her batallion: she made the shittiest job advertisement possible ON PURPOSE, because she thought anyone who was skilled enough would think like her and go look for an easier job to reap the biggest reward possible the easiest way - and got a whole lot of high-skilled patriots that wanted to get in on this hardcore-elite squad^^ I think between Tanya, Ainz & Lelouche, I'd say Tanya & Lelouche would be duking it out between themselves; Ainz certainly isn't dumb or anything, bit I got the impression that he's just a smart guy while Lelouche & Tanya are (evil) geniuses, while Ainz has way more personal power with his high-tier magic compared to his opponents, while Tanya & Lelouche couldn't, like, wipe out 180.000 enemies single-handedly as Ainz did. Between Tanya & Lelouche, I'm not sure... Lelouche did a lot of larger-scale tactics, but he's leading a rebel-force of his own, while Tanya so far only had a squad (Rhine) and now a Batallion under her, so he had more to work with. Also, while Tanya's magic power & jewel are strong, they're not subtle; they give her a huge boost in direct combat, but aren't nearly as good for manipulation as Lelouche's Geass (getting the Glasgows for the rebels in the first fight); don't know who of them would perform better without their respective powers; both seem to be good at thinking steps ahead & out of the box; Lelouche with having C.C. go as his replacement on Mt. Fuji/ Tanya getting annoying soldiers killed by (subtle) placement/ making the warning sound like a prank while still abiding to the rules to the letter, just not the spirit.

Btw the "Tamaya!" thing she screamed is a traditional Japanese expression to use when watching fireworks it's just a thing people do bc back in the edo period people either bought fireworks from one company or the other it's either tamaya or kagiya which were the names of famous fireworks manufacturers back then and people still do it today

It was like the German invasion of France in WW2 but reversed. The French tried to fight like it was still WW1 and Germany steam-rolled over them with new weapons, technology, and tactics.

31:30 People in that world do have to have an affinity to use magic. In episode 2 child Tanya is shown being tested for magical affinity by military personnel at the orphanage. It was her affinity with magic that allowed her to enlist in the military as a mage at such a young age, otherwise she would have likely been conscripted/drafted. She figured it was better to volunteer now than to be conscripted later; more options and control for her that way.
