Anime-only here, but...I guess the reason Tanya doesn't take it off is that she will NEED the power of that computation jewel in order to survive all the battles she will go through...that prototype is powerful and I think, even if she hates using it, she is still too calculating to throw away a potentially live-saving advantage & die just to spit in someone's face. Tanya puts as much thought into the real benefit of her actions as in her image (like promoting Viktoriya to look like a caring officer), so while studiing in the library, she also managed to look like she puts her back into it & leave a good impression - two birds with one stone, just like the proposed strategy, with half of it being just for show. Tanya isn't "I want power and kick puppies" kind of evil; she wants to archieve the best results possible (and thus get the biggest reward)...and the easiest way there just happens to be the ruthless, manipulative road, at the expense of others. I guess Zettour sent Rerugen the "report" or what you'd call it just to get a second opinion on such a huge matter like the possiblity of a world war & maybe responding to it by forming the response unit, but kept the author's identity (Tanya) under wraps to avoid any bias or future conflict, since he knew of his opinion on her (even though he still seemed to recognize the cold, calculating style of the text and seemed to realize it was one of Tanya's works later on when he picked it up from his coffer again). and yes, MYTH & ROID did the intros for both Overlord and Tanya (and a whole bunch of others, because they simply rock 😁)

re: so many answers to Tanya's recruitment poster. Being that overtly pessimistic in the poster brought out all the mages who wanted to be part of the "elite". It would be like the Navy Seals or Delta Force putting out a poster that said, "Hey, we're gonna do some stuff that'l probably get you killed, but if you think you're up to that challenge, then try out for a spot."

Is Tanya a psychopath, or a sociopath? We don't have enough of his back story in our world, but Tanya is behaving like a sociopath at this point. Sociopaths see and have learned to do whatever works for them regardless to reach their goal. Psychopaths do that at birth. In Anime Orochimaru, Hidan(Naruto) and Hisoka(HxH) are psychopaths. There is a sociopath and a psychopath in Code Geass but that is spoiler material. And Light Yagami of Death Note is a sociopath. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dv8zJiggBs&t=357s

Tanya wasn't going to shoot the trainee. She was going to stab him through the skull with the bayonet and "carve the rules on his brain." Signal theory is like using body language to convey a message. Like a small deer bouncing in the air while running away to show her predator that she is full of vitality and would be hard to catch.

Makes me think of when people getting challenged to a fight crack their knuckles and pop their neck/shoulders when they get up and walk toward their challenger, like an intimidation display.

20:45 the dude really doesn't have any justification to hate Tanya like he does. He saw her in a moment where she wasn't putting on an act of being a child so maybe he's just got some instinct sounding an alarm in his head saying "something isn't right with that girl" and it's messing with him. It reminds me of the Showtime show Dexter about a serial killer working in a crime lab. He acted like a normal guy and was able to fit in but there was one cop, only one, who never trusted him and always disliked and was suspicious of him. It was like that cop just had an instinctive sense that Dexter wasn't right, that he was fake, that he was a wolf in sheep's clothing. That's how I see the dude who hates Tanya.

Like those old recruitment ads for the marines. I remember this one in particular from at least 20 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62tnJtLBQzQ "It is more than a trial by fire. It is a right of passage. A challenge to join the elite, and if you can succeed, if you can master your fear, outsmart your enemy, and never yield even to yourself. You will be changed forever. The few, the proud, the Marines."

I’ve never seen dexter but now I feel like I should check it out. Yeah I would say that is a pretty good explanation of Hans. He just somehow knows Tanya is putting on an act. I can’t wait to see how it plays out!

yeah this opening song is called "jingo jungle" by Myth & Roid, the opening for Overlord season 3 is also made by MYTH & ROID and is called "VORACITY". Myth & Roid also did the ending songs for Overlord season 1 and 2 aswell as the openings for Re:Zero
