Welcome to Steins;Gate! Some argue this is where the show starts - and everything before this was just build up. Whether you agree with that assessment in the end or not - it's only going to get better! Can't wait for the next reaction! El Psy Kongroo.

In all seriousness, I can still remember where I was when If first watched this episode. It was early morning, I had the full bluray set because someone reccomended it to me, and I had just finished eps 1-11 the day before. Needless to say, after this episode, I blasted through the rest of the series in one go. It was an experience I will never forget. After multiple rewatches, it sits comfortably at my #1 spot in favorite series. (Although I do concede that my penchant for loving time travel and hard sci-fi definitely contribute to that.) The writing and characters are exquisitely done. Don't worry too much about that opening sequence, btw. It's fun to analyze but even after 9 years since its release, S;G fans still debate what it means.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The biggest theory is that its either A) A dream and he's freaking out B) some bleed over from other Worldlines, as its pretty similar to something that happens waaaaay down the line in 0. No spoilers, though ;)

Welcome to the true suffering of Steins Gate. From here on out it's an intense ride. Hope y'all ready

Btw the time stopping is all just symbolism. Mayuri's death was being foreshadowed the entire episode. You just knew something bad was bound to happen, then the show had the audacity to lower our guard by having a typical hang out scene then go ahead and pull that shit at the end. Time stopping was symbolic showing Mayuri's time was up. We all know how precious she is to Okabe. So it's a visual representation that without Mayuri the world is over. Time for him just won't continue to move forward. He can't live without her basically is what I'm saying.

When you will finish watching the anime, I advise you to play the original(Visual novel), it is 10x times better.

It most definitely has to do with "that" scene from Steins;Gate 0. It's way too similar.
