Hey Brian and Stephanie, your reaction was fantastic as always! Just to provide some context, much of Ayanakoji's inner monologue is often cut off in the anime due to the constraints of episode format, which makes it challenging to fully grasp his feelings about others and, most importantly, himself as he navigates his student life. I highly recommend reading the light novel if you're interested in delving deeper into his character in the future or you could check out the YouTube videos that cover the cut content from previous and current episodes can provide further insight into how his character is portrayed differently in the anime compared to the source material.
