Not sure if anyone ever tried to explain this but the new Anime is the final story arc from the manga, it's what was supposed to happen right after the arc with Ginjo. But the original Anime got canceled without the final story arc ever being animated (basically they were making so many fillers while waiting for the manga to finish people starred tuning the anime out so it got canceled). The manga also ended a while back and for years it seemed like we'd never get to see the final story arc of the series be animated which brings us to thousand year blood war. So that's what the new anime is, the final story arc from the Bleach manga that never got animated due to the cancelation of the original series finally being animated.

The anime never got cancelled, thats just a lie haters created without actually doing any research. Both Kubo and the voice actors have confirmed it was just on hiatus but tybw was greenlit just after the anime ended, Kubo was sick.

Its was literally a decade before the new bleach aired after the ending of he original anime. The bankai at the start is purely for fan service, it was the first time in 10 years that we heared "BAN-KAI!" in anime form. His getsuga being yellow is actually what's in the manga from the start, they just made it blue in the original bleach anime. There were a lot of negative feedbacks with the manga version of TYBW, fortunately the anime is fixing a lot of those issues and more. Im so so so excited to see your full reactions to the rest of tybw!
