YO FOLKS! We released our build earlier this week, but here's what we've been up to since then!
2/22 weekly report
- Added critter callouts for gift items! (These are the little "Hey Rascal!" cartoon speech bubbles you see when critters have a gift to give.)
- Fixed some last minute typos, portraiting issues, and a few stray bugs prior to builds.
- Made the monthly builds!
- Still bugfixing the issues yall reported in Discord!! (In particular, the bug that causes date conversations to play when some critters are not out on a date! I alllllso gotta figure out why Penny completely vanishes after certain fast travels!) ;w;
- Started digging into the Save System rewrite. We'd like the game to keep track of the content you've unlocked from version to version, and this becomes even more important as the game's nonlinear content grows (gossips, dates, critter gifts). This comes with a whole new set of design challenges, like: what happens to unlocked gossips if you time travel with chapter select? What happens if you play version 0.15 after 0.18? What if you skip version 0.16 but have a savegame from 0.15? What if we change quest prerequisites or add backdated dialogue, dates, inventory items earlier in the story? It's been some fun problem solving so far! Planning to have the upgrade ready by the next monthly version.
