Hello Update! (Patreon)

Hey guys it's been a while! I want to start becoming a bit more active on here again after my *ahem* extended break so I thought I'd give a little update on what I've been up to.

For most of the year I've been struggling with various IRL issues and coupled with a general low mental state the art block/anxiety has been strong. I've been doodling occasionally but never felt anything I did was worth finishing or posting.

Recently I started posting sporadically on Twitter again and it's been encouraging to see the responses from the few things I've been posting.

Over the months, rather than trying to force my way through the art block, I decided to move away from drawing and started learning new skills with Blender and Unity. It's been tough trying to self-learn everything but I've been really enjoying it and have even started incorporating what I've been learning into my workflows.

I'm no where near good enough to make things entirely in 3D just yet but using it to help enhance my artwork, in particular with backgrounds and lighting reference, is something I'm pretty excited about.

You may have seen on my Twitter that I've even been entertaining the idea of creating a Visual Novel. I've tried to incorporate animations into comic panels in the past but it's never really worked that well in my opinion. Making a VN would allow me to do essentially a comic but with animation, sound effects and even some interactivity! I'm currently working on getting a short demo put together as a sort of proof of concept and to learn the workflow.

Creating a game will probably take some time though and I want to start posting regular stuff again so I'm thinking of trying to to do more sketch requests and maybe weekly pin-ups from your suggestions/votes. I'll try and figure out a regular schedule for all that soon!
