I remember not wanting to watch The Untamed because I don’t usually watch C-drama. But my friends kept talking about it, so I gave in and watched. I finished it in 2 weeks lol. Now I have watched the drama, read the Manhua and watched the anime as well. Wei Wuxian is so cute…. I love WangXian’s (the two leads) interactions esp. in behind the scene and variety shows. There’s a video I would like you guys to react to if you end up watching this drama where Stephanie Soo (from Rotten Mango) talks about how the main character Xiao Zhan (Wei Wuxian) was involved in a “scandal” and almost got cancelled due to a fanfic. And just putting out there Ning Ning is my baby :)

I don't like to classify The Untamed as just simply "bromance" cause the director, the writers and the actors knew and filmed it as if it were a BL, just adjusting to the "strict rules" of censorship. But even tho there's no kissing, the love story is still very true and very respected. I mean you can TELL they love each other, is just that the crew for The Untamed found sneaky ways to show that love without getting their project banned

i've been straight-up binging all your BL reactions and they're so satisfying to watch! yes, i would consider The Untamed 'BL' as well. It is only officially marketed as 'bromance' because of censorship but it is the adaptation of a canon BL novel, not to mention that the subtext of the series itself, on its own, is enough to gauge the romance between the main two leads. I will say though that my favourite chinese BL is Word of Honor, which is a similar genre to The Untamed as a Wuxia (fictional martial arts realm based drama).
